Need to Buy a New Mic

I need a new mic for gaming on my pc. I got 40 bucks on a gift card to spend at walmart. Any recommendations?

yeah, i've also seen people satisfied with them as well. Nothing wrong with going for a budget option if it does everything the person needs it for.

They have THE BEST customer support on the planet. They're a company made by and for musicians and audio engineers. They like to keep up to date with their customers to make sure the products are still working and that you're happy with your purchase.

I've been a musician my entire life, as well as broadcasting and streaming for a few years. Here's a few cheaper mics that are genuinely good quality and won't entirely break the bank.

First up, the Samson Q2U USB/XLR dynamic microphone. I've used this mic at home for years and it has excellent quality and is nicely rugged and durable. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack on it. USB the mic in to your computer and you can plug your headphones in to the mic and listen to your computer audio back through it. This is also great because it lets you listen to your voice real time. That's a great feature as it lets you monitor your own voice and will help you naturally improve your speaking.

That's also the only mic I'd recommend purchasing from anywhere BUT Sweetwater.

Second up, we have the Audio Technica AT2005 USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone. It's very similar to the previously mentioned Q2U. Slightly more expensive, different aesthetic, but offers the same features. Paying a little more for brand name on that one. However, it's also available from Sweetwater.

And lastly, this is the most expensive, and frankly my least recommended mic. The Audio Technica AT2020 USB Condenser Mic. It's USB only and still includes the 3.5mm headphone jack so you can listen back through it. I only include it cause it tends to be a favorite among who I'd say are pretty uneducated about audio. This mic is the most popular with people that have a lot of misconceptions about microphones and recognize the audio technica brand name. It doesn't have too bad of an audio quality, though I much prefer that of a Dynamic. Even a cheaper one to that of a condenser.

I have a number of other mics that I'd recommend for more serious purposes, but that's where things start getting more expensive. You do you, but seriously. What ever you do. DON'T BUY BLUE!
    Lol, okay.

You can listen to this guy if you want, but, I know tons of people who have Blue mics, and are completely satisfied with their quality, and have had zero problems out of them.
In the end, do what you will.
