Playing games is part of the human nature. If the gaming industry in its current state will still exist in 10 years, maybe. The human activity of playing game is not going to fade out that quickly.

The end of gaming?

It's definitely because rants get more clicks over praise. Even within the scope of the individual creator it's evident. You'll see one YouTuber make multiple videos, day after day, basically ranting about the same ol thing over and over. Even if it's the tiniest thing, like some random tweet from some developer you've never heard of, it's the recipe for another 30 minute long video on the subject. On the other hand, you aren't as likely to see as many videos on why the creator loves a certain game.
Ain't saying it's a bad thing to have these rants, but it sure makes for a stale feed.

Don't forget that the Exclusively Games idea was created pretty much for this very reason, to get away from all the negativity and clickbait crap and focus on a more balanced view of gaming. Just waiting for that website to launch!

People just dont like shitty practices. And it seems gamers are unanimously in an agreement that we're tired fo the crap. It's not a "YouTube" problem. All over Youtube, reddit, twitter and other platforms where the consumer has a voice, we are all saying the same things. It's the biased media outlets like IGN, Polygon and Kotaku that are bought and paid for with publisher money that try to sweep everything under the rug. I know that's not necessarily what you thought you were talking about... but that's what is going on.
That said, people can be a bit dramatic with the bad games. Yeah, the new Fallout and Battlefield sucked. But there were a lot of great games this year. Honestly, if I have to hear another word of how God of Soy was a perfect 10, I'm going to rip my hair out."You can take the politics out of the forums, but you can't take the snowflakes out of the internet "

Of course, there's more doom and gloom press out there because it gains way more attention than positive news, we love the drama that's a fact, but there shouldn't be any reason not to look for all the positives in the industry either if you haven't noticed there are a bunch of good games that did come out this year.
For example Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-man, DragonBallFighterz, Monster Hunter World ect...

Nah, RDR2 and God of Boy game out this year and Cyberpunk is coming when it ready. There are still companies that make decent games free of micro transactions and scams. But it is a shame that I had to get excited about not spending money on red dead after I bought it.

I agree with this. There's an old saying that says "good news doesn't sell newspapers," which has been modernized as "good news doesn't generate clicks." When there's controversy surrounding a popular title, we just gotta know what it is, or so the so-called games journalists of today want us to believe. With respect to the origin of the phrase, this isn't limited to just gaming news. Ultimately, isn't this a factor of why this website/forum was started to begin with?Originally posted by Phabe Jewell View PostOf course, there's more doom and gloom press out there because it gains way more attention than positive news, we love the drama that's a fact, but there shouldn't be any reason not to look for all the positives in the industry either if you haven't noticed there are a bunch of good games that did come out this year.

If you think that good games aren't being made anymore, please believe me when I say they are still out there. You just need to read beyond what's in the headlines, what's causing the latest controversy, or Metacritic's 'top' games.

It's silly to think that video games are dying. Stocks are down, at the moment, but it has more to do with tech stocks being down in general. There are studies that show that those stocks usually go down as a result of certain political moves, but then go back up. This doesn't mean games are dying. To address the negativity; it is true that negativity on Youtube has existed for awhile, but I think the recent antics of companies like Bethesda, EA, and Grapeshot has really fueled the fires of the negativity hype. It doesn't mean that it's unjustified, but it does make it easier to try and line up the stars to make it look like the industry is failing.

This is by no means the end of gaming. It's more of a purge of the companies who don't share the same passion as the players. Other companies will come up to fill the gaps left by those that collapse. Were you watching some of the rants? Maybe YouTube was just trying to give you more of what it thought you wanted. If there really are more negative video game review videos than positive ones, and if those negative ones have more views and likes, and if you've been watching some of them, then it seems reasonable that YouTube will give you more.Originally posted by Matcam89 View Post...I found myself getting more into Youtube because i was finding lots of great content about good games but it seems my feed has become more and more filled with negative rants...

There's still plenty of decent games out there, but not all of them were produced this year. 2018 was in general a pretty terrible year for new video games. I think for almost every solid AAA game we got, we got a colossal failure too.
Outside of the AAA industry you can tell the heart is still there, so games won't necessarily die, and neither will the corporations; however, they may realize the error and be forced to correct their ways. The games crash that seems to be coming might be a good and necessary thing. Short term will it suck? You bet. Long term, I think those that learn to adapt and survive will come out better for it. That's just my take on the situation anyhow.
Even if things completely tank, my backlog is perhaps big enough to last through most of my life anyway; so I won't lose too much sleep if things go south for a while. Yeah...I'm totally guilty of supporting developers by buying games I may not be able to get to right away if the game is great.

I think a lot of the negativity is primarily focused at the AAA level as well. Most of the recent AAA games that have released or just moves from AAA companies in general have been very poor lately. Like Fallout 76 being the disaster that it was or Blizzard really dropping the ball with Diablo, much of the AAA side of games is really in a bad rut at the moment. I think people are just getting fed up now after years of bad practice and poor quality control from AAA games and its finally boiling over and everyone is targeting it. I will say if you look for more indie games or niche titles there is a lot more positive coverage and interest since there is less baggage with those titles than the AAA ones. The industry at the AAA level is just in a bad rut at the moment and people are finally being very vocal about it as most have reached the end of the patience with things. That's my take on it.
