So, Infinite Warfare is on sale on PSN for under $30, so I picked it up knowing I would never play the multiplayer. I have no interest in competitive shooters (except for Splatoon 1 and 2), and I usually pick up the CoD games when at a steep discount primarily for the single player campaign. I was wondering if there is anyone else on this board that does the same thing! I also played Titanfall 2, and Black Ops 3, and I enjoyed my time with the single player experiences they had on offer. Although they are short, they usually have incredible production value, and the action set pieces are fun to experience. Anyone else agree with me?

I agree but usually I'd consider 30 dollars too expensive. I got Titanfall 2 for free when I bought Battlefield 1 last year. I got BLops 3 for free from PS plus. Infinite warfare I got for free with one of my PS4's. Aim low.

I agree that $30 is a little high, but I was interested in the space combat in Infinite Warfare, so I sprung for it. I did get BLOPS 3 free on PSN+ as well. I think I got Battlefield 1 for $5 and Titanfall 2 for around $7. I was really impressed with Titanfall 2's single player. That time travel level was awesome! I may actually go back and play it again at some point.

I always play the multiplayer so I'm not in exactly the same boat as you, but I always play the singleplayer regardless. I can't remember which one it was, Infinity War 1 or 2 I think. The one where you have your own carrier vessel and space fighter squadron, that was really really good. I remember the one with John Crichton from Farscape was good too.Originally posted by SnarkyJay View PostSo, Infinite Warfare is on sale on PSN for under $30, so I picked it up knowing I would never play the multiplayer. Don't get me wrong OP. These games are well worth 30 dollars. Especially if you truly enjoy them. I was just trying to point out that the products are considered so disposable that if you wait long enough you'll find them in the "bargain bin".
Edit: Oh and Titanfall 2 is certainly one of the biggest tragedies of this era. I'm gonna have to go back and play that one again. The way that it was released alongside Battlefield 1 shows how incompetent EA really is. "Oh don't worry, ones a futuristic shooter and the other's historical. I doubt there'll be any fan-base overlap." SMHLast edited by The_Dirk_Diggler; 12-29-2018, 05:56 PM.

Was that the one with the squadron of space fighters?Originally posted by MadMummy76 View PostI just picked up Battlefield 1 for the single player mode, huge mistake, it is terrible.
Infinite Warfare however had one of the best campaigns I ever played, on some level it rivaled hell even surpassed Mass Effect.

Yeah, CoD sp games are awesome. It always baffled me that people praise the likes of Uncharted and God or War for being great, cinematic sp experiences... but completely ignore CoD for the same thing. I personally enjoyed Infinite Warfare and Black Ops III more than the aforementioned. I was an annual and happy CoD buyer ever year on day one... until BO4.--Still haven'[t played it."You can take the politics out of the forums, but you can't take the snowflakes out of the internet "

which was the last one you played? the single player of the later CoD games are actually double that.

Well, there have been two CoD campaigns since then. and i dont remember how long it took me, but the average time it takes a person to beat the Infinite campaign without 100% is appx 9.5 hours according to HowLongtoBeat dot com wit over 630 contributing tot he metadata. So maybe you rushed it. But its still no 6 hour game.

cod4: modern warfare, mw2, mw3: the single player campaign, just wow, all the wows.
I got mw2 at midnight release too, it's online was impressive, all those extras and guns and setups, it was so much fun I could barely believe it, cod4 was where I began but mw2 was the one, the one with all the wows.
Modern Warfare 3, story of course I loved, but its online was a mess, I didn't care for the weaponry, the setups, nothing felt special, and the spawns were horrendous to say the least, I stopped with this entry when it came to online.
Black Ops 1, story is very interesting I really liked it.
Advanced Warfare, the one with the exo-suits, I liked the twists of that story, though it's online just felt like a mess of flying shit lol.

Call me crazy but I bought all the mainline CoD games on PC and not only enjoyed them but loved the campaign. (BO4 aside) Infinite Warfare had an excellent campaign, clearly they tried to make it as explosive as possible with very dramatic moments. To me, Black Ops had the most wow factors; the Cold War was a very cinematic touch.
P.S those on the fence, BO4 is worth it, I got several hours into it (almost to Prestige) and its more fun than critics say; its by no means a Siege wannabe.Whatever you love, I probably hate.

If you have a PC.........I think any of the last 5-6 years will do, why don't you give the first CoD a try, the graphics are really dated, but the campaign is good....and for a COD these days quite long.
As it lasts around 8 hours, 5 if you really, really rush, and back then that was seen as a really short campaign. Yeah, even the first Far Cry had a campaign that could last 20 hours.
I would also add United Offensive as that is shorter, only five hours but the stories were sometimes even better.
Especially the Soviet Campaign where you take part in the Battle of Kursk, it was afaik the first time that Battle was shown from an Infantry perspective.
I had played it from a Pilot's perspective in the IL-2 series, from a Tankers Perspective in various Tank sims like Panzer Commander, but the infantry perspective was new and cool.
You also did stuff they talked about in history a few times, like going and killing the Ferdinand Assault Guns as Soviet Infantry.
Something which the real ones were vulnerable against.
Just a warning though, you will need to play it very differently from the modern CoDs.......it is a pretty old school shooter.
I really liked both, as they felt a lot like the war movies that we knew and series like Band of Brothers.
Certain issues (like using the Panzer II for every Panzer that is not a Tiger.....something which the first CoD Did better!) Cod 2 is another good one, different campaigns, africa for example but not quite the variety of mission types that the original CoD had. Still good though and as it is the first that has the Auto-heal it might be more familiar to those only used to the modern CoDs.
Modern warfare also had a great story imho, only the one of MW2 felt really strange and rushed, I think that one would've needed more time for the characters to develop.
Ironically it was used as the basis for the Arma 2 Campaign Soldiers of Valor and I really liked that one, as it was a bit like a Modern Warfare story done right.
