I recently encountered this game and man, did it strike a chord (and not just because a lot of the soundtrack is pretty heartwrenching)...

But anyway, soppiness aside, when it comes to this sort of game which isn't especially challenging or has much by way of gameplay but tells a typically focused, deeply emotional/abstract/introspective story (a la Eternally Us, anything by thatgamecompany etc.), I have somewhat mixed feelings towards them, more associated with the impression my liking of them gives than the fact that I like them. *shrug*

In the interest of just talking about them (rather than their merits within gaming as a whole per se): do you like this sort of game (& why, if so inclined); which is your favourite (if you have one, or more)?

It's on my steam wishlist - I always wait for sales.

Personally I enjoy 2D platformers the most from an art style perspective. When they are well done it really adds something extra that I always find big 3D games to be lacking.
The soundtracks that go along with this genre are also play a big part in whether or not it can give that feeling as you say striking a chord to create the right type of atmosphere at the right times.

In recent memory Child of Light was great. Playing through Hollow Knight now and it along with other games like it they take you on more of an emotional journey through its completion and drag you into the story more than most do.

Also honorable mention to Dead Cells - not a fan of the graphic style but from a mechanical perspective alone its really well done from my point of view although to be honest I haven't kept up to date since its full release with all the changes that have been made.
