1. God of War
- A breath of new air to an old IP that, from my point of view, is a move in the right direction. The story is great as well as how they delivered it. The ending was nice as well as it opens a lot of possibilities in the future of the franchise.

2. Monster Hunter : World
- Since I've been a Monster Hunter fan for a really long time now, I might be a bit biased on this one. But unlike most others that wanted the game to be really punishingly hard like the older ones, I can understand why this one is like the way it is. They made it so that new players to the series will be able to be introduced fairly easily all the while keeping a few options for long-time fans to be able to challenge themselves as well. And for the record I think the game didn't became easier, the controls just stopped being clunky like the older games used to be.

3. Spider-Man
- This one I played back when it was released at almost every time I had the chance. The freedom of swinging around the city accompanied by the graphics made it one heck of a experience. I also like how they made the story fit in with everything especially the final boss fight and the events leading to it. While it definitely (To me at least) cast aside the other villains in the game, I think it's necessary to be able to make the final boss of the game stand out and really give the importance that turn is to Spider-Man.

Most others on my list aren't released in 2018 so I won't include them, and some of them are MMORPGs so I think they aren't included in the list.

1. Kingdom Come Deliverance
2. Battletech (Politics and the horrid story aside.)
3. Train Simulator 2019 (Since the yearly free update finally gave us 64-bit for this over 12 year old game, which has changed this game, and breathed new life into it..)

I could add a fourth but that is more a technicality as it has been re-released as a pack with the 3 earliest addons in April.......but the original release CSX Heavy Haul has been out since 2016....got some good addons this year though. Ruhr-Sieg Line North is the one where you could say they finally got really serious about it.)

4. Train Sim World

And that's it this year for me, as I don't count early access, which means Assetto Corsa Competizione is out and most of my favourite games are from past years.
Examples being Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2, IL-2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz, IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad, Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm, Rising Storm 2 Vietnam, Dirt Rallye, DCS World, Falcon BMS.......
I also don't count addons for simulations which have accounted for the majority of my Spending.
Like the DLC/ Addons for AC and Pcars 2 as well as quite a few for that Train Simulator.

These days I tend to play games that are developed and updated for years and get addons instead of completely new ones each year, since that is how most of my favourite genres tend to work.
They release and a new version might take years to come, with the games being supported in the intervening time.
Look at the Arma Series, Asetto Corsa or several others.

3.The Crew 2
4.Spyro Reignited
5. Life Is Strange 2 (it is held back by forcing politics into the game but still a good game)

Soulcalibur 6 would likley be in my list but I haven’t played it yet so I can’t add it
