That's because you edited your original post and are a liar. And I was not attacking anyone in my original statement, only speaking for myself and other gamers. It wasn't an attack, snowflake. Speaking of insecurities, you were the one who basically said that real gamers can't have a life or responsibilities, pot. As in the kettle black. But enough of the ad hominem. Answer my questions, otherwise the conversation is over.

isturbo you need to chill out. He was talking about when he was a kid and therefore had no responsibilities. And if you don't have kids, then yeah compared to people with kids you have no fucking responsibilities.

The only one attacking anyone is you. The only one butt hurt is you. Many have already commented on the actual subject and no one else here felt I was attacking them

Perhaps you have some insecurities you need to address. Have a good day

    More food for thought:
I never said he wasn't a true gamer, nor did I imply you or anyone else wasn't either. So what's with the butthurt??

I don’t mind people disagreeing with me - But because you actually failed to read what I said you totally missed the actual topic that I wanted to discuss. So yes you failed to add anything to the conversation it seems your just looking to pick fights.

Second I did edit my post and also added a disclaimer that I did so, but I guess you failed to see that also.

Third I never mentioned nor degraded anyone who fits the character you mentioned. Nor will I ever everyone comes from a different walk of life and however they choose to spend their spare time is up to them and more power to them, I wish I had more of that time.

I did not attack him, snowflake. Actually, he attacked gamers by saying we don't all have lives. I know he didn't do it on purpose, but its what he was saying. And I am a real gamer. No memes about it. If that offends you, maybe you can go have a frozen your date with your friend here. He also edited his point after I commented to change his statements. Just look at the times stamps. So why don't you get a fucking grip and stop defending people who actively attack games? On topic though - jerk me off more. If you are looking for me to be overly polite, you ain't going to get it.

Dude looking at your recent posts you are a meme 'real gamer' - you attack the guy claiming 'you don't need to read what he wrote' and invoking the 'real gamers' in a thread where a guy just asks about games in which easy mode applies gameplay changes. Get a grip. On the topic though - I think XCOM is a nice example - the game on easy is just different especially at the beginning where the game gives you a significant boost. It is not gameplay altering change but still I think it warps what the game is about

Just for some food for thought:
If you "mostly" play on easy because you have life and responsibilities... how is that not the same as saying those who choose to game more/harder have less of a life?

Heh. First of all you said "most" games on easy. Don't think I didn't catch the edit. So let's go with that. You already weren't off to a great start. Now add lying to it? Maybe easy up off the holier-than-thou attitude.

I didn't think I was wrong to begin with, but I got your number. You very quickly tried to twist it to make it seem like I do nothing but sit in my parent's basement and play video games. Not to mention you equate not playing on easy difficulty with being 6 ears old. Maybe you would you like to preach further on how pathetic us basement dwellers are and how high on life you must be to have such responsibilities.

Yeah, you're full of fucking shit, lol. I did add something, btw. It's called disagreeing. I'm sure you know what that is, judging off your automatic response of climbing on a pedestal. Maybe its you that should move on, since you can't hack people who can play video games and juggle their personal life at the same time... which was my entire point. /whoosh

DS Era Fire Emblem games utilized this mechanic called Casual where defeated units become playable next map, or Phoenix Mode, where they become playable next turn. I actually liked the lethality of older Fire Emblem, after I'd dragged my ultimately diminished army through the final battle with a bitterness in my mind and a scratchpad with each unit that died under my command because of inexperience or carelessness. Then again, I'm sort of a simulationist, especially with games where each unit is unique or named, and I try not to be myopic about it since the enemy cannot save-scum.

I like to play on normal difficulty, because I feel that's what the developer intended. I do sometimes play on easy if I feel the enemies are too bullet spongy on higher difficulties. I do enjoy hard games like NES classics and the Souls series, but when it comes to games that I'm not very good at like first person shooters on console, I will sometimes dial it down if I get stuck in a particular area for a while. I play games to have fun, and if I find I'm not having fun, even after several hours of getting used to the mechanics, I feel no shame lowering the difficulty. A good example of this was Batman Arkham Origins. I was a big fan of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, and I was good at the combat, able to get large combo multipliers and I had little trouble running through the game. When I played Arkham Origins, I found they changed the combat mechanics, and it was much more difficult to get combo multipliers. I spent maybe 7 hours on normal getting used to the mechanics, but it never clicked. I ended up starting a new play through on easy, and I didn't regret my decision.

I'm a default difficulty kinda guy. I don't enjoy failing at games and I rarely like a game enough to spend enough time to get gud. Also a lot of high difficulty is just cheap; so you get less ammo, take more damage, do less etc rather than making the enemy smarter (I know Halo tried to do this).

Personally I'd never switch a game to easy, I've given up on games completely when maybe switching to easy would have let me see them through. But to me it's like taking the low offer on The Chase, you just don't do it.

Anyway, I think your question extends a little to default difficulty too. When a game has complex "rock paper scissor" mechanics or similar, I often find that on default difficulty you tend to not have to exploit things much, and I often have the feeling that I'm ignoring mechanics that I would be forced to master if playing on a higher difficulty. One game that springs to mind recently is Divinity: Original Sin. It made a lot about combing spells, using the environment etc, so you could cast a rain spell, then electricity to shock, or ice to cause people to fall over, or oil and then fire to set the place alight and so on. I didn't do any of that stuff and I felt I was simply ignoring a large portion of the game's mechanics. I just went in sword swinging until people died.

I usually play on Medium difficulty, sometimes on Easy. I like when you can change the difficulty while playing. I really don't have too much time to play, so I don't want to get stuck in one spot for too long. Also, I'm not that good but I still want to enjoy the game, haha.

Jagged Alliance 2, which is one of my favorite games of all time, gets pretty huge difficulty boost when you up the difficulty level. Easy on JA2 is like "you can't fail this if you try at all" level.
