  • Five games you might've overlooked in 2018!

    1. Valkryia Chronicles 4-NS-$39.99
Excellent turn-based strategy game. Story follows the missions of a group of soldiers as they fight a fantasy war reminiscent of the European Theater of World War Two. Beautiful anime art design, good soundtrack and solid gameplay.
    1. Shining Resonance Refrain-NS-$46.07
Action RPG that is NOT trying to be anything like a Tales game. Overall a solid JRPG, won’t blow your mind or break the bank. Recommend checking it out if you’re in the market for a new JRPG.
    1. Gal Gun 2-NS-$38.95
This is the kind of game that retailers must fear. You play as a high school dude that is irresistible to girls, so much so his physical wellbeing is at stake. Fortunately, an angel assists in combating these girls with pleasure-inducing firepower. This game does not try to hide what it is, and what it is happens to be one of the best rail-shooter's I've played since the last Gal Gun. Praise Nippon.
    1. Crosscode-PC-$14.99
Top down action RPG that earns and exceeds comparisons to a game like Secret of Mana. This is the best indie game you may never have heard of!
    1. Peach Ball: Senran Kagura-NS-$46.99
This is a Pinball Spinoff of the Marvelous Senran Kagura action series. Only released so far in Japan, you’ll have to create a Japanese Nintendo Eshop account or import the game from PlayAsia. While this game doesn't contain the most content, the physics and fan-service are on point for those who want it. Easily the best Pinball experience on Nintendo Switch.
    1. Now it is your turn. Name a few games you believe might've been overlooked in 2018.

Five games you might have missed in 2018 because you aren't a weeaboo.

Sorry, lol. I have nothing against Japanese games. Just find it a bit suspicious. I heard SR Refrain has a brutally depressing story.

Yes! All are great, especially Peach Ball and Gal Gun 2... then, you might also consider Bullet Girls Phantasia...

I've missed a few of the major releases in 2018 such as Red Dead Redemption 2 but hopefully will be able to pick them up at some point this year. Looking forward to Resident Evil 2 Remake for one this January.

I hath uncovered the ecchi boi. Verily he shall be abased, and we shall be exalted.

Seriously Senran Kagura? I mean, not a bad game for what it is...but you realize that such a game is very niche right?

*Shrieks in ecchi* Of course I realized the game is very niche, all of the games on that list are niche in the age of Fortnite. They all also happen to be pretty good games.

Niche does not mean bad or boring...

          "Valkyria Chronicles 4"
I have the remaster of the 1st game on PS4 but couldn't get into it really, gameplay wise not my type of game.
          "Shining Resonance Refrain"
          Have it on PS4
          "Gal Gun 2"
          Have it on PS4
          "Crosscode"
Seen it but not interested right now.
          "Peach Ball: Senran Kagura"
          Waiting for the localization.

The only overlooked game I can think off is Punch Line.

Personally I liked First Feudal on Steam, little top down build a castle, manage people, get killed by AI raiders, rebuild, get killed again, start a new game with a lower difficulty setting, rinse and repeat.
            https://store.steampowered.com/app/733460/First_Feudal/

The management is takes a little getting used to, with how much there is to do with the limited amount of peasants you get at the start.
The combat is simple and pretty enjoyable
All in all, it's a game I personally could play for 15-20 minutes or kick myself for realizing it has already been 6 hours

I was really impressed with Subsurface Circular and Quarantine Circular. Story driven games that have you talking to other characters to solve mysteries. No action, just conversation. The first game, Subsurface Circular can be beaten in one sitting, but is really great. You play a robot detective interviewing other robots in an attempt to solve a crime. In the sequel, Quarantine Circular, you are talking to an alien in an attempt to figure out his motives for coming to earth. Both with very high production value, and with stories well told. They can both be had for $10 total, and I feel they are worth the asking price. The first game technically came out in 2017, but I hadn't heard of it till it's Switch release, so for me it's a 2018 game.

                I can only agree with Midnight_Mogwai !

Gal Gun 2 and Peach Ball: Senran Kagura are too awesome games which clearly did not get the recognition they deserve!

I would like to add the following two for sadly overlooked games in 2018:

Bullet Girls Phantasia - English Ver:

Bullet girls is pretty good, I just had yet to pick up the new one. I won't recommend a game I have yet to play or didn't like.
