What are your thoughts on the darksiders games?
I think they are all great. Darksiders 1 takes all the best elements of legend of zelda and of god of war and does cool things with that. And darksiders 2 takes the best parts of diablo and prince of persia and makes a clol rpg. Darksiders 3 takes the best elements from dark souls and the previous darksiders games and is good tooTags: None

1 and 2 were very fun. I tend to enjoy clones or "ripoff" games.
I havent played 3. Didn't even know it was a thing until last week.

I & 2 were pretty fun, but nothing that I absolutely adored. I’ll eventually pick up 3 when the price drops. All in all, good games, even though 2 of the horsemen are wrong.

I've been thinking about picking up Darksiders III but I just can't bring myself to. I played the second one years ago and it didn't finish it. Just got bored and put it down.

Played through 1 and 2, got through Warmastered edition of 1, playing through Deathinitive Edition of 2 and 3 is on my Steam wishlist. It appears THQ Nordic did some patches and bug fixes after 3 came out, so it's supposedly a lot better than at release. I will decide for myself whence I get to play it.

Honestly I think the series is one of the biggest underdogs in the industry. Solid alternatives to the Zelda series that have a strong following but not enough to hit CoD level sales, I'm glad THQ nordic remastered the originals and made 3 a reality. I haven't played 3 yet but from what I've heard it looks like I'm gonna have a good time
FYI: Got Warmastered on PC and Deathnitive on PC & PS4

I haven't played the 3rd, but I am playing Darksiders 2. The story is kind of meh, and the gameplay of Darksiders 1 comes off as very dated but the combat and combos are fun. 2 is more or less an RPG but the platforming gets tedious and kind of annoying at parts, especially where it isn't immediately obvious what you need to do because the guidance raven you have is utterly useless.
The combat was fun, and outside of Death looking kind of stupid the graphics were fine. It's not a series I'm on the edge of my seat for.

Big fan of the series. It's unfortunate that the team went through development hell due to Vigil Games and THQ shutting down before they got bought by (THQ) Nordic and Gunfire Games.
Can't wait for darksiders 4, starring the cowboy of the apocalypse, Strife.

Yeah, the game was got into IP hell after the former parent company died. Most of the team transferred to Gunfire Games where they had a fraction of the budget. However, they have been constantly patching it.

Same here. I actually played the demo for the first game back in the day and I got DS2 free on ps plus.... neither of them grabbed me at all.

I have played the first 2 Darksiders games, and I plan on purchasing the 3rd. I enjoyed my time with both games, and I thought they were different enough from each other to not feel derivative. It doesn't bother me that they took inspiration from other game series. Just because a game comes out with certain gameplay elements, doesn't mean that those elements are now locked out from other developers. If that was the case, then GTA would be the only open world game, and other games with similar mechanics wouldn't exist. I like games. I tend to find positive elements even in games that get "mediocre" reviews. This is a great attitude to have because it means I get to enjoy more games! I'm really looking forward to Darksiders 3. I just have to get through my backlog of games!Last edited by SnarkyJay; 01-07-2019, 04:45 PM.

First 2 are good but the 3rd one is phoned in and seems a bit tame for my tastes. (Regarding killing and fighting - I am a combat-focused gamer) Didn't like it.

I only just started Darksiders Warmastered Edition, it seems definitely a lot like God of War which I'm fine with because I greatly enjoyed God of War 1-3, it grabbed my interest for sure.
I can't hear War talk without seeing Illidan in my head though.
