To Switch or Not To Switch

Great choice. My Switch is probably my favorite console, and I own many of them. It's the first portable system that allows me to play home console quality games on the go. I love my Vita, but when I play a Vita game, I can tell it's a game designed for a portable console. I don't get that feeling when I fire up a Switch game at the doctor, or on an airplane. Being able to play a game like Doom, Breath of the Wild, or Dark Souls on the go is a really amazing thing. Not only that, but I'm impressed with both the first party Nintendo games, and the overwhelming third party support the system has going for it. I'm sure you are going to really dig the system once get a chance to play it! Have fun!

So for anyone reading to this point I have decided to get a Switch! I have updated the main post to reflect this as well!

Maybe you should consider selling it to the OP for a reduced price, rather than losing in it your closet? That way you can spend the money on something you'd rather have and they get a cheaper product.

I will say the portability is a really nice thing. The titles do look interesting as its pretty much completely different from anything I normally play or have played in the last decade. Money definitely not an issue for me at the moment. More so knowing if I will play in consistently or not.Originally posted by Konshu View PostIn my opinion think of the switch as a extension of what you do when you game. You love to game but this weekend you're on the go but still want to enjoy some fun.. the switch has you. Fortnite fan and have to scratch that itch while in the bathroom for that hour long drop? Switch has you there. There hardware will hopefully see some interesting changes soon but if you love to game and got the money, its got fun titles to enjoy.

Its definitely tempting too, I just don't want to buy and not play it which is biggest concern. I could always get it on amazon where I have a reasonable amount of time to return it if I don't play it as much as I thought. The struggle is real though, even if the struggle is silly.Originally posted by sigmar View Post
That's not entirely true, it's nothing but a rumour.
Dude, get your Switch today, it's great. I have mine since launch, and it's been an amazing console.

Consoless always fell under this category for me of like are the exclusive title relevant to me, as a pc gamer most of the time they are not but rarely something comes along in a hand full of franchises ware I've bent mostly in my youth. I would say there are probably a crapload of games you could play you just gotta sell your self on some games, I've wanted one for a while because I could escape and play a game in public. but I agree to with the guy who was saying you might wanna wait its been 2 years and they are bound to make a hardware revision at some point soon.

Yeah I would almost exclusively play this in handheld mode if I got one. While I do have all these platforms its gotten to the point where I only play 1 or 2 games on them, minus the PC where I play more like a few more games consistently. I think I am suffering major burnout from ongoing franchises and what not that exist on PS4 and Xbox and since I have never owned a mainline Nintendo console it may be a refreshing thing.Originally posted by zeorhymer View PostMajor reason to get the Switch is the portability. This is definitely something I have been considering, given Sony's new censorship policy I don't plan on supporting them in the future. I pretty much have the PS4 for CoD but Blops 4 has really soured my enjoyment of the CoD franchise (I know I have somehow managed to enjoy CoD up until now) and it has no purpose at this point. Since Switch is getting a lot of the Japanese games it may be worth picking it up for those and the combined Nintendo games.Originally posted by Chris_Ceee View PostAnother reason for getting a Switch is that it is the system of choice for uncensored Japanese games (many of which can be purchased in physical form from PlayAsia with English subtitles as "Asia" versions).
Also, the Switch is getting a decent amount of shmups...
For me, the Switch is replacing PS4 and Vita.

I got one for Xmas from a rather tone-deaf friend (it's the thought that counts). I spent a few days on the Nintendo e-store but can't find anything that interests me to play on it. I was shocked that's been out for 2 years, as there's very little software. You've got ports, and Nintendo franchises. That's it. Very little to no original third-party games. Never opened it, tossed it in the closet. Not a console gamer though, so your mileage may vary.
