  • Which Platfrom should I have my game development channel on?

I don’t how many of you know that I am creating a video game development channel. I’ve been just sticking to this section, commenting on people’s posts, but I wanted to link my efforts on making a game development YouTube/BitChute Channel, though I find YouTube has my channel in some kind of ‘jail’, because I don’t even have 500 views yet, and BitChute is almost at 1600 views with the videos mirrored exactly.

    I don’t want to

My YouTube playlist for all of my ‘first semester’ teaching the basics of Game Design is linked below. It has 24 videos on topics that include basics of Art, basics of coding, basics of the game design manual and on Graphic User Interfaces. I designed it through the creative process, the first step is to take an idea and turn it into a concept - hence why I did a bunch of videos on those topics.

if you were ever interested in game development, you’ll learn a lot of what I learned from the first semester I took animation.

The ‘second semester’ starts in February, and I’m going to teach 3d modelling and animation through Blender, and the principles of animation (there’s 12 of them), so I’ll have another 22 episodes, with 2 per week starting then.

I would like your opinion right away though, even though I am having more success on BitChute than YouTube, by far, what platform would you prefer?

I've never used BitChute, but the fact that it uses peer-to-peer to distribute content is a big negative for me. With my ADSL connection, the upload bandwidth is extremely limited and I don't want to choke up my connection just trying to watch a video. So for now, my vote goes to YouTube.

Considering I have never even heard of BitChute, and I spend an inordinate amount of time watching videos on the internet, I would probably stick to YouTube. I watch a few streamers that simultaneously cast on many different platforms. I don't know if this is an option with BitChute, but I figured I'd mention it.

EDIT: I was reading about it, and it seems you can mirror your videos from YouTube to BitChute, so maybe this is a possibility to consider. Then, if one platform takes off, you can consolidate to one platform. I'm personally hesitant to use BitChute, because when I upload, my internet tanks. I'll have to do some testing to see what happens.

BitChute is less political and more anonymous option. Websites like bestg0re are uploading their videos to it.

That’s why I use BC. Their algorithms allow people to find me all the time, while YT has me in some corner where nobody finds me.

What is wrong with using both and using a blog to reference the videos should one or the other go down?

Currently I do, i’m just wondering, especially the lack of views I get on YouTube whether I should just dump it.

BC has 1600 views with YT less than 500. . .

MakeGamesGreatAgain I don't see anything wrong with it. They are clearly different audiences so you are reaching a broader group of people with both.

Use both as some have suggested above and throw another medium in there like a blog and promote it on social media, Twitter, etc

Maybe a better question I may have asked, which one I should promot more on social media, BC or YT.

You can pay youtube to promote your channel.

The quality of content is not linked to the volume of the audience. Look at how many views has Triddana compared to much worse bands.

I wish I could afford that.

          I’m using Blender 3d for a reason. . .

          Nice.

NWN Scripting was similar to C programming. So if you have any good tutorials you’d like to share, that would be fantastic.

Next month, I’m focusing on art stuff, Blender tutorials and the 12 principles of Animation.

How many people go there though?

I post this here, 15 replies and lots of feedback for me. I think I posted one thing in self-promotion and I got nothing substantive.

From a marketing perspective, this was far more valuable to me than saying, ‘come to my Game Development channel’ in self-promo.

nice. so you intentionally broke the rules to get maximum coverage. probably why i didnt click or give you feedback. do you cut corners with your game development too?
