I'm on the side that next-gen is launching in 2020. That means a lot of games coming out this year (if they do come out at this time) will be rereleased as PS5/Xbox Whatever titles in a "remastered" or "definitive" form. Because of this, I will be skipping out on a lot of games. I never had this problem in the past, I would buy games up until a month or so out from the new platform. But after all the rereleases this generation, I find myself urged to hold off on any purchases so I can experience the game for the first time on the better hardware.
Anyone else in this boat with me? I'm actually bummed by this notion because I really want to buy MKII, but I know damn well a definitive edition with improved graphics and all the content will release, because the same damn thing happened with Injustice.

I'm on the same boat as a lot of people here. Many of the games announced for this year are the kind of games that I will maybe see 6 months after they've been released while they're on sale and think "Oh, I've heard that's good, I might get it", as was the case with God of War and Horizon. I do not have the money to be spending on pre-orders (something I've proudly never done) or full priced games, and waiting is best for me since I'm a single player game-centric gamer anyway.
That said, I too am mostly excited for Death Stranding and Cyberpunk 2077. I think they'll both be life changing experiences for me - and I'm not even exaggerating.

I have GTA V for PS3 and 4, have fond memories from each of their online modes so I personally don't regret buying it twice. It has become a dumpster fire in the past few months though, and haven't made any memories since they releases the heists with the whacky vehicles, around the same time they started promoting Shark cards, which are really the only way to make reasonable money now.
I see RDR 2 going down the same route in a year or so's time, but I think as it goes through its beta stages it'll be fun.

I’m already sold, believe me, it’s all just a case of when will I jump onboard.Originally posted by Zoltor View Post
I doubt a revision is coming this soon, so unneeded, but sure wait if you want to see.
With that said though, the Switch has the best library in VG history(and the Switch is not even 2 years old yet, It's sick). I already have just about 40 games on in(still need to pickup Octopath Traveler), I'll likely have over 50 games by 2020, going by just what's already known for 2019.
Needless to say, the Switch is worth every bit of the price, although you have never seen a backlog until you're a Switch owner(It's a very good problem to have, but yea) lol

Last game I bought was God of War; before that I bought The Last Guardian. So many new games look boring and I fall back to playing older games on PS2 and N64.

If anything, my purchase rate has accelerated of late. Bought many games recently and other gaming-related hardware.

The backlog is REAL!
However a switch is extremely tempting, the only thing holding me back is rumours of a console iteration this year.

I'm very picky when it comes to buying games. I rarely buy games new. Last year i only bought Red Dead Redemption 2 new. I always wait till they are on discount. Hell, i'm still buying 16 bit games, because i have never played them.

I'm just waiting on TLOF2, and the Death Stranding myself. 2019 is going to be the year I catch up on my back log.

Yeah, in general - but for me it's more about release window and not wanting to double dip multiple times. TLOU2 and Tsushima are unlikely to drop anytime before this holiday, for example, and if PS5 gets announced to release the following Spring - I will be more unlikely to purchase them on PS4. But, games earlier in the year, like MKII, I will be more prone to invest in I'm sure. When the itch is there, I usually scratch it - but I'm going to try not to.

I think you just haven't been looking, but ok each their own I suppose.Originally posted by Turnikman228 View Post
Not even the Switch, not a fan of Nintendo or their IPs. That and my phone pulls handheld duty. No game on any console interests me at all in 2019. (Except for Killzone, SOCOM, Gears of War, Halo, Condemned 2 and Splatterhouse but those are years old now and I'm better waiting on RPCS3 for older generation gaming anyway)
Thanks for the heads-up, will check out Stardock (never heard of them prior)
Wait what, I'm sorry but what? Stardock is to the strategy genre, where Sierra was to the Adventure genre, they're almost as prominent as they were as well(they even had their own online store called Impulse that was infinitely better then steam, until GS bought it for no reason. Such ashame too, it wasn't just for stardocks games either, it was open to 3rd parties to use as well. Also not onle could you buy digital through it, you can buy physical copies as well for games that had such, which they had a awesome features with this. Buying the game physically would allow you to DL the digital version for no extra cost, so you don't have to wait to start playing, it was amazing).
They made the Galactic civ franchise(Galactic civ 2, is literally the ultimate civ game period, I don't understand why they made a Galactic civ 3 afterwards), Sin's of a Solar Empire(haven't played this, but It's a pretty recent game they came out with that had a bunch of hype behind, and many moreLast edited by Zoltor; 01-11-2019, 02:01 PM.

Hm ok.
Not even interested in a Switch(a lot of PC purists are even buying Switchs) ? There's actually a couple of Diablo clones listed in the coming up section in the eshop atm.
If you're going strictly stay PC, you should keep a eye on Stardock, they do a lot of games in the strategy realm.
