Toukiden 2 is a game that I would recommend if you want to play a Monster Hunter title without the mass amounts of prep phase shenanigans (made slightly easier in World). It's a joy getting the right combination of Mitama to make your weapon really powerful. I really hope we get a Toukiden 3.

Let's go with Dragon Quest Builders. People seem to just come up with reasons not to play this game... it's a DQ game. It's not a real DQ game. It's a RPG. It's a JRPG. It's a Minecraft clone...
Somehow, the game is very refreshing and fun. I love it to death. And it's my little dirty secret that as much as I loved DQXI, I enjoyed Builders just a little bit more.

FTL: Faster Than Light: This is a fun little rogue-like space sim. You pretty much start with a crew of 3 on your ship and go from jump point to jump point to collect resources, fight pirates, aid people, build your crew and try to avoid hostile pursuers. It's not a heavy action game and is pretty low on the graphics scale, but it's a fun little game if you're in the mood for a do or die permadeath sort of ride.

Hellblade: Sensua's Sacrifice: This was a nice little gem from Ninja Theory not too long ago. It's essentially a budget action game that while on a budget delivers AAA quality while tackling things of the mythological nature as well as mental illness. It's a brain twister that I'm surprised how many people still don't know about.

Dead State: This is in a lot of ways the XCOM of zombie games. It blends turn-based combat with RPG, crafting, base building, and survival elements.

Organ Trail: If you ever played Oregan Trail in school, this is kind of like that...but with zombies. lol

Banished: This is a little city builder sim that's quite fun. No combat or anything. Unless you count being beaten to death by mother nature and starvation combat. Still, this was surprisingly fun and one I recommend if you enjoy city builder sims.

Game Dev Tycoon: Nothing complicated here. The name says it all. If you like sims and want a game to just kick back with one night, this one is simplistic and kinda addictive. Funny story also. The devs released a torrent of the game as they knew it would be pirated so they had some fun with it. Late in the game, pirated copies would have a problem with their game studios losing money because of game pirating. So the players came to the forums trying to find out if they could add DRM to help stop it. Sweet irony.

Ghostbusters The Video Game: Ignore those other terrible Ghostbuster games, this one is the true sequel movie we never got. And it's a pretty decent game.

The Stanley Parable: This game is hilarious. That's all that needs to be said. I was surprised at just how much it made me laugh through each increasingly ridiculous scenario.

You can try the demo here if you don't believe me. But do yourself a favor...buy it.

I tried to steer clear from too much mainstream stuff but there's loads more I could suggest. That said, my last thing is play the Mass Effect trilogy.

I love Sanitarium, one of my all time favourite oldie games. Another unknown little gem of a game similar to that was Dark Seed.

If you like horror games I highly recommend Darkwood by Acid Wizard Studio, a very, VERY underrated top down survival horror game.

Doesn't rely on jump scares, the world it's scary, no second play it's the same, it has a good story, interesting npc's, it's just good.

THANK YOU, glad I am not the only one who loves the incredible adventures of van helsing.
But people should get the "Incredible adventures of van helsing: Final cut." cause it comes with all 3 chapters, new hero classes and more.

Still recommend the first one just to try the vanilla Van Helsing, cause the hero classes got changed a lot on Final Cut.

It's not a new game (but the series started a while ago), but one of my go-to "just one more turn" games is: Space Empires IV (or V which is slightly more polished and adds a few new features.) I enjoy 4X games quite a bit, but this one is war by turn.

The award-winning Space Empires IV Deluxe is the latest edition in the Space Empires series. A grand strategy title in the space 4X (explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate) genre, Space Empires has already found a place in the heart of strategy gamers everywhere.

I just played through Regions of Ruin, and it was a lot of fun. It's an rpg adventure about a dwarf who wants to reunite his brethren and defeat the goblins, orcs, and other creatures that have taken over his homeland. It's a lot of fun, and it's about dwarves, so... go buy it!

Also, it's 80% off on steam right now.

Cadria Item Shop - An item shop simulator where you craft and sell items to adventurers instead. This game is originally in Chinese but it's quickly being translated to English and the meat and potatoes of the game is already translated anyway.
Cadria seems nice and is even free to play. I've been looking for shop management games like Recettear for a while and Nono's magic shop(pretty good) and Moonlighter(kind of disappointing) were the only ones I had come across.

Also Epic Battle Fantasy 5 is indeed nice. And if Momodora Reverie is anything like the previous Momodora games it's probably pretty good too.

"Nono's Magic General Shop" is a collecting tycoon game. You will play as "Nono", a 16-year-old girl who helps out at grandma's magic general shop. Come and help Nono run the business! You will develop all kinds of products to achieve the ultimate goal - Become the most popular magic generl shop in town!

Terranigma is indeed amazing, the 2 games before it(Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia) are also nice.

Knightmare Tower. A launcher game that is on steam. Made by the people behind 'Burrito Bison' if you're familiar with that game.

A very fun game, clean mechanics, aesthetically pleasing.

The game I think is lesser known but should have been more popular is the original Fossil Fighters for the Nintendo DS, Wiki--> (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fossil_Fighters). I think people passed it because it seemed like it was a Pokemon clone and at some points it feels like it is, but it had a certain charm to it and was self aware in a good way, it was more than what you would have expected from it. sometimes it feels a little too childish and the combat system isn't too complex but that's really the only negatives I have about it (also the sequels weren't too great). It was one of my favorite games when I was younger I would recommend people who don't know about it and should check it out.

CrossCode has been a blast for me so far. Plays like a mix of a top down twinstick shooter and an RPG. Story so far has been neat, especially for me as a fan of the old .hack// games, with some neat twists and turns in how it unfolds. Gameplay has been fun and fairly high action when I've wanted to string a bunch of fights together for those juicy drops.

VA-11 Hall-A is a nice game to just chill out and play, too. Basically a VN that has you just being a bartender in a cyberpunk city. Dialogue can branch depending on if you get customer orders right, how big you make the drinks and get them drunk (or not), and if you remember details about the regulars, like customers' favorite drinks. Sometimes it's surprisingly fun to be on the sideline, not one of the characters that are caught up in some huge shit that is going on in the city.

There was a 2D vehicle based AI driven building game called "Airships:Conquer the Skies" I think is highly underrated/obscure that I think many people would enjoy if they got the chance to see it
