  • Red Dead Redemption 2 [What I have played so far]

[Edit] This is my first review for Exclusively Games Forum. I would LOVE to hear feedback from higher-ups to regular users. So I can make improvements to my written reviews.

So last Tuesday I FINALLY got RDR 2, been wanting to play this, and.......my god it is f**king b-e-auuuuutiful! Man the people who give the praise are not lying this game is soooooo much fun.

Ok a little history of RDR before I get into RDR 2. So the first RDR, was a game I always picked-up, and stopped playing; then I go from the start, try it, and dropped it again. When RDR 2 came out, I finally pushed myself to beat the whole game (not completing it mind you). I enjoyed it, even though the ending was spoiled to me, I loved the story. But for me (even though I knew the ending) I have seen enough movies, especially westerns, to know John Marston's debt wasn't cleaned from the Pinkerton's hit list. Totally did not see that you get play as Jack for the rest of the time, and getting his revenge for his father's unlawful death.

As of this moment I am at 43.3% of total completion, for the main story 34%. As for the story I am enjoying it so far. Its really cool to see Dutch, Bill (not so much), Javier, and John before shit happens and John gets betrayed by the Van der Linde gang. So what I keep thinking is: What happens? How did this happen? What made Dutch go crazy and how he ended up in RDR? What happens to Arthur? Loved how the game opens with a true thing that did happen in 1888. I am loving the more choices I can make in the game. During a mission if I don't do that one thing, something else happens without triggering a "mission failure". I love going hunting which I am still trying to get better at, and I love fishing too. Its wild to see how, the Wanted System works; to me I think its a little sensitive, but I am learning how not to get caught; or how you can shoot up entire town, pay the bounty, and the slate is washed cleaned. I enjoy in hunting, you actually see the skinning of an animal, and kinda shows its done. I love how you visit a place or do something, then in a mission a character would ask "have you been here or done this?", and Arthur responds saying he HAS been there done that certain task, also visa versa for some place or something he hasn't done. I personally enjoyed the mission where I took Jack fishing; or any mission where I am not doing illegal things with my gang. I thing is I WISH I could bring someone along with me when I go fishing, see a show, hunting, or even robbing a train or stagecoach; kinda like how GTA 5 did it. LOVE the details in the environment, how you can see a puddle of water, and if its raining you can see the rain hitting (?) the puddles. Love the details in the characters. May I say, I have never seen this much detail in hair! I love how seamless the transition to gameplay to the cutscene, back to the game. Love how if you get mud on your shirt and or face, you go to a cutscene and its there, go back to the game, and its still there! This amount of detail that went into this, no wonder the people at Rockstar worked a lot of hours, it shows. It also shows that two companies that shall not be named, that Single Player is STILL loved by many. The gun sounds are incredible, and I love how you can edit each different part of the gun. Music is amazing, and the voice acting...........just.......10 out of 10, also LOVED how they brought back the original voice actors for John, Abigail, Dutch, Bill, and Javier! Each character made for the Van der Linde gang is great, even though there is a few I cannot stand, and one I hate. Just shows how they put effort into the characters.

But one thing (and this is for me) that kinda bugs me, is the too much of the open world; see I liked how in RDR you could only stay in most of New Austin, then unlock Mexico, and then Blackwater. To me I LOVE the Open World they made here, but to me its overwhelming. I won't knock it down a point, its a little overwhelming. I don't know if anyone else feels the same way, let me know if you do. Also brought down how easy it is to fast travel. And aiming of guns, is still not there just yet for the Rockstar games.

Overall so far I am LOVING this game! And I cannot WAIT to see New Austin in full HD. How do I know I get see New Austin? By the map I got in the Ultimate Edition and in-game map.

As of right now my rating for this game (5 being average), is a 9 out of 10 for me.

I won't be playing it unless it releases on PC. I wish Playstation Go provided access to its big titles, if it allowed access to this, Persona 4/5, or Detroit Almost Human, and I'd subscribe, at least for a month or two.
