What if the concept was shutting down government and sjws so gamers could game in peace. Talk about a great role playing experience that everyone here could get behind

I had the same thought when people were discussing their ideal games in the "If you could develop your own game tomorrow" thread, but you don't have to go far to see how different everyone's idea of an ideal game is.

I wouldn't be able to contribute anything other than moral support, lol, but if it were to ever be a possibility, maybe in a few months or so once the site properly kicks off, I'd be in full support of it

I love to create. Wether it is art, video games, web pages or something completely different. The tought thing about this online comunity is that it is online comunication. It would be easyer to band people togeher creating awesomenss if people were nearby. That and the challenges timezones give us is a lot of things at one time.

If you got any idea how to bypass theese opstacles however I'm ready to listen.

Nice. Plenty of FOSS games on the top most list, which are still being supported (last release 2018). Also, no shortage of different genres.

Personally I'm partial to puzzle, RTS, TBS and city-building games.

People collaborate on open source software projects across the Internet all the time. It's an intriguing idea, but I would suggest starting by finding a group of people interested in creating a mod for an existing game. Something with a reasonable scope and a clear goal. Without any expectations beyond working together, sharing knowledge and learning new things. From there you could build a group of programmers, artists and so on, who could take on a bigger project like trying to build a simple game.

Sounds like a cool concept, but somehow I just can't feature the idea of the gaming community working harmoniously together to create a beautiful piece of open source art; the word clusterfuck comes to mind.

These wouldn't be easy decisions to make but the best way would be to choose the hierarchy based on experience. Once the hierarchy is agreed upon they make the decisions for their team.

Willingness to cooperate will be a must to be on the project.

What if we as a community banded together, figured out roles based on strengths and developed our own game?

From what I've from this community so far is one that is creative, driven and passionate about games. I think this could pull of something truly special. What do ya'll think?
I might be down for that. Though it might be better to provide a platform for people to build off instead. Getting potentially tens or even hundreds of people to all agree on one project is a very difficult process even with a producer and director.

How would the hierarchy work for this game? If some people aren't willing to listen to the others what happens?

All very true statements. I would say we vote on the idea. It would need to be something small in scope so it's easier to develop and release but still fun. I have a ton of project management experience and currently work as a business Analyst so I could help in those areas pertaining to scope and timelines.

Your trouble is going to be finding a single idea that more than a couple people are willing to donate time toward that isn't also going to take a small team a dozen years to finish.
It's doable, but you're going to want to start off with good organization, standards, etc unless you want to join the majority of small projects stuck in development hell.

Edit: Additionally, feature creep is public enemy #1.
