In response to Mark Darrah's Tweet On Anthem

They've done that before though, and another time they did something even worse. The developer(especially when the developer is actually owned by EA) can say whatever they want, it "does not matter", because EA doesn't seem to really care about bad press for some reason or passing the blame to the moron developer who promised something that the developer has no control over.

So show me the receipts then. Where have they done that before?

I want you to take a look at the sentence you just typed and tell me if you think this is a good argument:

If you want to discuss the game itself then it's a live service game run by a company that has an notorious reputation for draining peoples wallets with microtranactions and from how they've marketed the game it seems like they don't even know what they're trying to make. This game is probably going to fall flat due to lack of interest if I had to make a prediction on it. If you think for a second that EA is going to publish a live service game and not milk the players for every cent humanly possible that you haven't been watching these people as closely as you should.

I really don't understand where you're coming from (specifically speaking about Anthem). They've been super transparent about everything. What about it really bothers you? The free DLC? The lack of lootboxes? The cosmetic microtransactions being unlockable by playing the game?

Again, I'm just asking for a precedent for your claims (that EA is going to go back on everything the develop says after release). And all cosmetic microtransactions can be earned by playing the game. You don't have to spend money. I sure hope it's "grindy" to get the items. I'd rather have something to keep me playing long-term than just have everything given to me.

Yea I'm inventing such, because EA(among other scumbag western so called AAA publishers) have "never" done that before. Anyone who doesn't actively think EA is doing this to screw the consumer over, is a moron, and why EA has gotten away with all their BS for so long.
At this point, cosmetic microtransactions shouldn't even be allowed(not in a game that require a upfront payment anyway), because all it is, is cutting off content, that should of, infact would of been in the actual gamed, obtainable as rewards for get this, playing the mother fucking game. I'm utterly sick of this BS in retail priced games.

Furthermore, don't be silly, It's a forgone conclusion that the game will be designed to be so grindy to get anything that's also offered in the cash shop, that It's basically foring people to spend money additional money, if they want a lot of the content.

On what basis do you believe this to be true? EA isn't doing this to screw the consumer, they do it because they know people will buy something if it looks cool. EA isn't forcing people to spend money on anything. It is a choice of the consumer to buy a cosmetic. While I can understand the frustration, there is a shift being made in the larger market due to controversies over the past few years.

Plus, on the point of cosmetic mtx not being allowed, why? We are in a different age of gaming. When publishers and developers are in the game to make money, they can create optional purchases to add onto the existing experience. Again, while I see your point and understand your perspective, EA is a business. They aim to grow. Now you can make an easy cop-out answer and say "they should just make more and better games if they want to make more money". Except, it has been proven that they have gained a lot of money from their big market titles. On top of that, they are putting out more games with the smaller indie companies they partner with, but those end up getting very little recognition and don't end up earning them as much. When you look at the reception to certain games under their wing, its hard not to add some sort of cosmetic optional pay that has NO BEARING ON THE GAME AS A WHOLE.

I just don't want to spend any money that goes directly to EA. I don't support their culture/ideology/business strategy whatever you want to call it. No matter how good the product is, they don't get a dime from me. Same with Activision.

What is their "culture/ideology/business strategy whatever you want to call it?" I've never been one to care about who a publisher is. I don't think I've purchased an EA game since Battelfield 3. But when looking into it, it looks like their two biggest recent releases (Battlefield V and Anthem) have no season passes, no loot boxes, free DLC.. I just can't imagine saying "nah, I ain't about to get any of that free DLC, no lootboxes or season passes."

EA is doing this for no other reason then to get good review scores(because frankly even the shill media wont def EA anymore), because they know if there are microtransactions, and a crappy progression system to push such, It's going to tank the scores. EA tried the political route, but that damaged EA more then just having bad scores, so now EAs going back to this type of BS.

Battlefield V has their battlepacks, which is the same thing as in BF1 and earlier titles that had lootboxes. Nothing new from the game as a whole in the realms of mtx's.

When I search "Battlefield V Battlepacks" all I get are results claiming no battlepacks in Battlefield V.
