Well that excludes almost every game these days. I'm not saying pre-order exclusives aren't a bad thing, they're cancer. But if I took that as a deal breaker I might as well quit gaming.

In mmos I think genderlock is dumb, and people should be allowed to play what they want to play.

    Poor character customization in mmos

Censorship / political correctness leading to uglified characters and ugly outfits.

I agree with that, I used to play male characters for a very long time, then I did a complete 180, and I've been choosing the female most of the time since about Mass Effect 2.
Let the player choose the character, that's the best.

And I'd add poor or non-existent character customization not just in MMOs but all RPGs.

No it doesn't make sense if you know what causes it exactly. But it makes 100% sense as a consequence of not being focused. They could §cw made the death better. But there is no problem with the concept of characters dying as a consequence of not doing their missions.

I'm not sure if I have any "deal-breakers" per se, but there are certain things that heavily impact my desire to get a game, but not necessarily 100% going to cause me to skip it entirely.

    1. Pre-Order DLC
    2. Early Access

With Early Access the game would have to be out for a minimum of 6 months with overwhelmingly positive reviews, and even then I would likely wait for the full release.

I also think a lot of comments are just genres that people don't like which in my opinion is a different thing, but if we are going that route it's just Rage Games and Sports Games for me I think.

For me it varies from game to game. As an example I've always enjoyed the Call of Duty games campaigns. Sure they're throwaway, mindless fun but I've ways enjoyed them. Activision's decision to scrap the campaign for BLOPS 4 and replace it with a battle royale mode was a deal breaker. BLOPS 4 is the first CoD I've not bought as a result.

It's a random bullet. How does it has anything to do with choice and consequence? A person can be at 100% commitment and still be hit in the head by random bullet, but the cause shouldn't be whether you did or didn't do the loyalty mission. It doesn't make sense.

If Mordin has a reason, that could help the universe, but you choose not help him. Mordin is more likely to leave you, because he deemed it as important to save the universe as the suicide mission. This will result in a event where it gets a lot more difficult, because you don't have Mordin in the crew anymore. Not a cutscene that calculate your renegade or loyalty point to decide whose die by some obscure way.

And they'd confiscate all storage devices already out there? That'd be interesting. I mean the government can't even confiscate illegal firearms.

Rewriting history in of itself is not a problem. I mean lots of games are set in alternate history or altered timelines. The problem is trying to sell an idealized or altered history as genuine. (And then attacking fans who disagree...)

That's an oddly specific complaint. I think it was handled great. It is simplified but it basically means this: If you don't do the squadmates loyalty mission they're not 100% focused on the mission, so they get sloppy and get themselves killed during the final conflict. That's all there is to it. What did you expect? How would it be handled if it were up t you?

    Micro-transactions.
    P2W.
    Speech Check.
When there is forced politic agenda like Baldur's Gate Dragonspear.
    When its published by EA.
Overrated Choice and Consequences like Mass Effect 2 "You didn't do Mordin loyalty mission. Mordin get shot in the head while closing this door".
    Bad / Boring Story.
    Bad UI.
Too much focus on graphic rather than the setting and the gameplay.

Misleading marketing, terribly implemented mechanics, bad AI, micro-transactions in $60 games, repetitiveness, day one dlc, etc. A lot of things depending on the game but those are my top few.
