  • Game recommendations for someone who recently quit League of Legends

I've been off League for about a month now and I am actually finishing my backlog of games. I'm really trying to quit for good this time so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations that could scratch that competitive itch that urges me to go back and play Ranked. I'm dogshit at FPSes, I have always hated Battle Royale games and Sports games and I've never actually played a RTS just so you know.

It really depends on what you're willing to try. The "Borderlands" games are very popular and still stand up quite well, though if you want a shooter with more story I'd recommend the "Bioshock" titles.

"Mass Effect" of course, the ME3/Andromeda multiplayer was a very well done addition to those games.

"Mad Max" was an excellent action game with some of the best melee combat I've played - the punches feal heavy and there's nothing quite like fist fighting 10 guys in the middle of a sand storm, with oil tanks exploding in the background.

If you're willing to try small group tactical games, I could not recommend a title in the genre more than "Shadow Tactics".

And if you enjoy open world rpgs like "Witcher 3", I'd recommend the recently released "Assassin's Creed Odyssey".

ever play Deus Ex Revision? its a mod for your Steam version of Deus Ex - dude, that game IMO has very little contest for story-based FPS. Just a friendly mention, no hostility.
Mad Max got so much shit for no reason, that combat was stylish and heavy as hell - dare I say better than Arkham.

Honestly shoot me anything and I'll probably consider it. Always looking to expand interests, now that I got all this free time.

If you are down for RPGs, I'll recommend a new favourite here: Immortal Unchained. A challenging but fair RPG with guns and melee weapons: on PC
If you want open-worlds, Mercenaries Playground of Destruction on PS2 where there are epic explosions and tons of toys to dispatch enemies.
Whatever you love, I probably hate.

I would strongly suggest you play Ragnarok Online(this game has more customization, real customization, then any game ever made period. Each job, which think there's something over 40 now lol, has 2-3 completely different skill builds, equipment is super customizable due to socketable cards, and now enchantments, ect. It's amazing how many options there are, and the amount of strategy that goes into WOE(ie the guild vs guild castle siege war).

As long as you're not one of those people that "only" care about the pvp aspects in a MMO, and is willing to play the actual game, you'll love it, there's really no competitive feature in any game that could hold a candle to RO's WOE system.

      Here's the official site: http://www.playragnarok.com/download...tdownload.aspx

You want the Renewal servers/client, and once you login, you want to join the Chaos server.

Am I right in assuming you just want to avoid the endless multiplayer online games in general? Or were you finally sick of LoL specifically but don't care if the game is multiplayer? You make it seem like you want to end the grind of pointless matches somewhat. I quit LoL for the third and last time years ago now, and it was the best thing I did.

For single player experiences there are lots. Depends on genre. Not sure what/if any consoles you may have. Also what are your PC specs? Because if you are like me, your PC is living in 2010.

I'll just make a few base suggestions without worrying first I guess.

An FPS I'd suggest is Borderlands because it has abilities and RPG elements, plus you can have friends play along. The sequel also works, but I haven't played it because my PC can't really handle it...

A Free ARPG I'd suggest is Path of Exile. Its basically the sequel to Diablo 2 fans wanted made by hardcore Diablo 2 fans. It released before Diablo 3 did and has had lots of support. As someone who isn't a Diablo fan, I actually really enjoyed the game. Its a hundred times better with people though, solo it is still fun though. I always tell people this, You know how RPGs have skill trees? This game has a skill forest.

An RPG WItcher 3. I myself can't play it yet...but I own it. I watched lots of spoiler free gameplay and still long for it. I swear this year is the year I'm upgrading my PC. But its a great RPG.

An adventure game I'd suggest is Zelda Breath of the WIld. I know this is a console one, but its a solid exploration game with challenging combat. I don't really have much to suggest in this genre.

Dead Cells and Rogue Legacy are both great rogue-like platformers. The former is beautiful, but can be visually confusing. The later is more simple, but equally good and is far more visually clean(perhaps one of the best I've seen in that regard). Dead Cells has you start at the very start each time you finally die so you have to go through each stage/boss in order. Rogue Legacy on the otherhand lets you explore the map in any order, and you are able to keep your stat upgrades across runs and has extra abilities/armor that you can swap between before going in.

A JRPG I'd suggest is Bravely Second on the 3DS. At this time the console can be had dirt cheap or if your PC is really good I'm sure it can be emulated. However the game is cheap, and the cheapest console would set you back the price of another game. Perhaps someone else could suggest one on PC.

I'd like to know more what you are into. Obviously if you mean "give me a new MOBA" I would just suggest going to DOTA2, not that I ever liked DOTA personally(back in the WC3 customs golden years).

I played witcher 3, and I could always fire up Borderlands it's been awhile though.
RPGs, JRPGs, Dungeon Crawlers, ARPGs are my bread and butter.

For someone so... closed off to gaming as a whole... I recommend just using a gaming rental service. Your main problem is you are using gaming as an addiction, just trying to get your next fix with some other title. You're doing it wrong. Just play and enjoy gaming as whole. If you are in the US, try GameFly. But probably recommend PlayStation Now or Xbox Game Pass. You need to just play more games and see what sticks. With one of the aforementioned services, you can do just that. It would also be a good idea to let people know what platforms you have access to so people can make relevant suggestions.

I played Dota for almost twelve years. I quit cuz the constant rage. I started to try to control it and today I'm doing better. Currently I play Rainbow Six siege and I love the game. I even bought all four season pass, just to support the game.

I'll look into those games. As for why I quit; I realized that I wasn't having fun play League. I was just addicted to trying to climb rank. I'd just complain all day about bad teams and poor balance. I just had enough man.

Here's some RPGs (mostly Jap ones cuz I'm a dirty weeb) :

                TLOH : trails series (in this order : Sky->Sky SC-Sky 3rd->Zero->Ao->Cold Steel 1-2-3)
Any Etrian Odyssey bar maybe 5 who I think is the worst in the series (Untold 1 being the most beginner-friendly and Untold 2 being my personnal favourite, still need to finish 3 one day)
Any FF from 4-9 (never played 8 tho, didn't like 10's story and characters but the gameplay was great, can't say anything about the others), 6 being my favourite as my avatar suggests it
Stella Glow was a game I also enjoyed despite the studio closing after it, sad that we won't get more of this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tAHFcg2ckQ
Wargroove, nice strategy game that came out recently, as well as its inspirations : Advance Wars (2>DS>DOR>1) and Fire emblem (imo 7 is the best to get into the series, not too hard, not too easy, doesn't introduce anything too broken or too awful except HHM Battle Before Dawn)
Disgaea (only played the first 2), funny chars and story, good gameplay, big numbers.
Dragon Quest V or VIII (best in the series imo, XI, IX, IV and VII are also pretty good)
Pokemon Insurgence and Desolation : My 2 favourite fangames, Gaia and Glazed are good rom-hacks too

                Not RPG but good :
The Yakuza series (only played Kiwami but it's good and they're cheap right now)
My friend Pedro is a flash game that devolver will port on PC and switch soon and it was dumb fun
Rocket League is a game similar to League in the way that you will look like a buffoon at first but getting good is very enjoyable, you can tilt real hard if you focus too much on rank. But the gameplay is really fun and unique, while I still think the game should go F2P it's a good game.
Touhou are good shmups, most people prefer 6 but I think 8 is the best one

It can if you like random crashes, audio and FPS dropping. It's not too bad with Bravely Second but games like FE Echoes are a chore. The 3DS emulation is functionnal but very rough right now, citra is the most used but that is more a "I use it because it's the least bad of the bunch" than anything.

Just a thought, shouldn't you have mentioned what gaming platforms you have access to? Or is it just PC?

Initially, I was gonna recommend a crapton of FPS because those are kinda my main jam but its not your thing. However, if you do want to check some out, feel free to ask.
Yeah, a point when a game ceases to be fun and turns into an endless sweatfest for very little payoff - I know what you mean.

Smite from Hi rez studios is a pretty different MOBA from the rest of the pack. I played it years ago and I'm not that into MOBAs anyway so I can't tell you if it's really good just that it's different. I've been playing more rocket league recently and I have a love hate relationship with the 1v1 comp mode
I'm crawling deeper and deeper into backlog hell

Path of Exile, Complex, ever changing. It's free. (Kinda) You like it, and you plan to stay, I suggest you spend $40 on stash tabs.
So Free to try 40.00 if you like it. (just makes life so much easier)
It really is all you need to spend. And time... watching lots of videos learning. Does not hold your hand.
