Worst video game fanbase

I won't go into it too much, but the short of it is the game was enjoying a fair amount of success and another dude wanted to be a part of it a little too much. The game was called sonic planet or something like that.

I'm curious what fan game that was, because what I have seen most sonic fan games are pretty well received for the most part.Originally posted by R.U.S.E View Post
If you had said this three weeks ago I would not have believed you. But after witnessing someones life get destroyed over a fan game I'm sorry to say your probably right about the Sonic fanbase. (They aren't all bad though, there are those good few)
I know too little about DBZ to actually say anything about it's fanbase.
There is also one other fandom I would put on this list but it's not video game related.

(They aren't all bad though, there are those good few)Originally posted by Hyperweasle View PostSo I saw a thread in the RPG section post by Last_Dragoon asking what the worst RPG fandom was, and I started to wonder what people would think if we expanded that to all video games. So what do you guys think is the most toxic video game fanbase you know of.
For me it's two.
The Sonic fanbase, which are consistently at each others throats on what makes a good Sonic game and I think Sega has no idea what game to make because whole fanbase is split up so much.
The second one that I found has been pretty toxic lately is the Dragon Ball fanbase ever since Dragon Ball FighterZ was released (It could have been like this before, but I didn't really notice too much), you have people praising it as if its the best game ever and attacking people who have a different opinion or those who think it sucks and say Xenoverse is the best and also attack others for different opinions. Heck the FighterZ fanbase can't even get along, because you have people wanting certain characters added, while others complain that it would be a wasted character slot. Then you even have people fine with paying $4.99 each for base Goku and Vegeta as DLC which should have been characters that were already included into the game. The Dragon Ball fanbase when it comes to games is really split lately, and it's sad because I really like those games and it really gives them a bad reputation.
I know too little about DBZ to actually say anything about it's fanbase.
There is also one other fandom I would put on this list but it's not video game related.

I'm not going to comment on that because I don't want to drag this thread off topic any more than I already have, not because I don't think you're wrong
I just wanted to highlight the fact that xadu was (again) saying things that simply weren't true.

No your're right, he's not a professional developer, but he did bring up the fact that other games have used the Gamebryo engine and they don't suffer the same bugs that Bethesda games are known for. I really don't think you need credentials to see that.Originally posted by Aidy View Post
First off what are his credentials? As far as I can tell he's just some guy with an opinion and a YouTube channel and xadu is just some guy with an opinion and an EG account, I'm going to need something a bit more substantial than that. Second of all that's just one of a million "muh buggy engine" videos rushed out to cash in on rage clicks. It doesn't even back up what xadu was saying about cutting wages, using amateur devs and so on. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with having opinions or expressing them, my issue is when people talk as if what they are saying is proven fact when it isn't.

In my experience I would have to say the Nintendo fanbase. Growing up gaming in the UK during the 80s Nintendo, contrary to common belief by the younger generation, weren't as popular here as Spectrum, Commodore, Amstrad and Sega. Sure there were pockets of fans, but nothing compared to the US and Asia, (as a nugget of interest the video game crash of 1983 never really had an effect on the UK computer games industry either, in fact it was thriving). Anyway, a lot has changed since then and along with it the rise of the toxic UK Nintendo fanbase.
Being told to go drink bleach because I haven't bought a Nintendo Switch?
That's just one example.
Nice.

If I did I would just have to of asked around the office to prove you were posting inaccurate information the last time you did this. Remember the last time you made claims about Bethesda staff that were completely untrue? I see you've learned nothing.Originally posted by xadu View Post
So, you work at Bethesda?

Originally I had not planned on getting Anthem just because EA. I played the open demo with a friend of mine and actually really enjoyed it. I'm still on the fence about purchasing, but it's on my radar now. Barring a catastrophic release, I think I will be getting it. Sure it has bugs, but what game doesn't on release? The game is beautiful and I felt the difficulty level was right imo (played the demo on hard). Reserving final judgement until release. I'm not going to base any decisions off of a very limited demo.

An old engine gets buggy if you try to add new features that didn't exist back when it was first created, the Gamebryo engine simply can't handle all those 4K textures and immersive lightning.
