    Current State Game Journalism

Just saw a video by Weaponised Nerd Rage that really drives home how detestable the current state of games journalism truly is, and why a site like this is a necessity these days. Below is a link so you can see for yourselves

The author of that article clearly has trouble separating reality from fantasy. I would go as far as to suggest that they need real, professional help.

A lot of journalists are receiving poor education where the schools are more interested in making money than producing quality graduates. There's also the indoctrination side of things where propaganda is spoon fed to them constantly.

Also, a lot of these journalists in nerdy fields (gaming, anime, comics, etc.) are only there because they need work and they took whatever job they could find. They don't care about the industries which is why they end up attacking the fans and the creators.

Many of them are too lazy to do research as well, especially if leaving the office is required.

    Fair enough.

Oh he's well in the category I was referring to. If you compare his videos to thequartering it's as if they're working off the same script sometimes. The only unique videos he has is about sucking up to kojima. He's not gonna win any points with me for that.

Some of my favorite YouTube content creators include Arumba, EnterElysium, MathasGames, NorthernLion, PartyElite and Quill18. All of them create very similar content without any political commentary. Quite often these channels also have closed beta game play, which is about as useful as it gets when talking about pre-launch material. For example, I have so far spent seven hour watching PartyElite play Anno 1800 and that has been a really good time.

They don't offer interesting insights or in depth analysis, or research. Because they don't do research, all they do is learn about a news item, then sit down in front of the camera and read it to you. I believe they're so popular because people like to hear their own uninformed opinions regurgitated back to them.

I understand where you are coming from, but as with the Steam store, if you are willing to put a little bit of effort into it there's high quality content to be found on YouTube. I quickly grow tired of the kind of content the OP linked to, but I do find it occasionally entertaining for a video or two. The reason why I only watch the occasional Quartering video is, because I only have a passing interest in it.
I see. Yeah tutorial videos are allright. Even though I wouldn't watch them just for the sake of it, just search for the relevant part where I'm stuck in a game and watch that bit. What I miss is the ability to learn about new and upcoming games without the political filter.

One Angry Gamer might be up your alley but do keep in mind some of their articles tend to have an 'opposition' political slant and overly aggressive tone

I dont think is exclusive to gaming journalists, is pretty much going accross all the "news industry".
And, 99.9% of Youtubers are no better, either.
