How many games do you need to justify buying a new console?

I have been building up a list of decent games that would make buying a 360 or PS3 worth it.
It has been what? more than 8 years and its still not worth it. The backlog i have on PC already would take years to go through, so everythign becomes a hard sell.
I think by this point a decent emulator for either platform will materialize first.

When I bought my switch I legit only cared about Breath of the Wild. 1 game was what pushed me to make my purchase. Yes in the year plus I've owned it I've bought about a dozen or so games for it (that I've loved) but truthfully it all goes back to that one.

I thought about Smash, but then decided it's not worth it because I have no one to play with locally and NIntendo's online solution is garbage. As for Fire Emblem, I'm interested to see how that will turn out since I love Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn (though, not so much the recent FE games).Originally posted by TheSlammurai View PostWell now there's Smash. I'm also planning to get the new Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei 5, but it's not enough to justify buying a Switch. XD

I do NOT want to spend money on a console... and not for a fist of games.
I want to use PC and spend all the money on the games themselves, because:
-I need a PC anyways.
-I can upgrade the PC.
-I can choose to lower the settings if my hardware is outdated, so I'm not limited by access to the hardware.
-I can mod. I can tweak the idiotic errors of the game publishers, like awful disgusting FOV choices.
-I love to replay old games when I get new hardware.
-Games made for consoles tend to be deeply flawed:
---Too corny.
------Too politically correct. Made for children/teenagers.
------Graphics are always corny, like idiotic trail effects for swords.
------Corny animations. Corny character movements. Japanese feeling.
------Too third person.
------Childish faces for characters. Idiotic childish enemies (example: Halo).
---Too controlling over what should be player choices.
------Nonsensical graphic restrictions (FOV, resolution, distance of view, number of enemies).
------Too easy difficulty levels. Developers think they know better on what is "too hard" or "non enjoyable".
---Too follow-the-recipe on gamemaking. I can recognize when a game has been made by console programmers. It always feel bad. It always feels cringy.
------Corridor design.
------See too corny.
------Infuriating, game breaking, quick time events.
------Cutscenes, cutscenes, cutscenes.
------Always ending with giant boss.
----------Giant bosses are corny.
----------Giant boss has weak spots to target.
----------Giant bosses are boring.
-----------------Just larger sponge bullets.
-----------------Boring to defeat. A chore.
----------Battle against boss has nothing to do with the gameplay.
-----------------Is not about using learned abilities.
-----------------Is not the same game. Feels like a minigame.
-----------------Giant bosses that deal a a little damage, so the player may survive one/many hit.
I would NEVER buy a console. There is not a number of exclusives that will make me buy one.Last edited by xadu; 12-19-2018, 11:18 PM.NEVER use any Procter & Gamble product. Specially Gillette.

For me it's only if the consoles have 1 or more games that I REALLY wanna play.
I bought a WiiU for no other reason than Bayonetta 2, it's the only worth while game I own for it, the other few games are just cheap arcade type games that I own I can't even remember cause I haven't played the WiiU in forever.
I put off a PS4 for years and didn't get one until Yakuza 0 caught my attention and then Horizon Zero Dawn gave me further incentive to get one. Don't own an Xbox One at all and have no interest or incentive to get one.
My biggest regret however is buying God of War 4 digitally, I hate that game and can't refund it.
I'm not gonna touch the Switch until I see the final version of Bayonetta 3, chances are it'll be the same situation as the WiiU all over again.
Nothing from Nintendo has ever interested me cause they're still the "kids company" in my eyes.

It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality. I'll buy a console for a single game If it's good enough. I mostly play on PC, but I bought a switch for Breath of the Wild. I also got Mario Odyssey and Smash Bros Ultimate, they're the only 3 games I own on it but all 3 of them are amazing IMO and made it well worth the purchase.

Got my Xbox One only for the Halo franchise.
