  • I got banned in Overwatch

    Merlin does an OOPSIE!?

Hi friends. Yesterday I got banned from Overwatch. I was curious if anyone else has been banned from the game. It almost feels like a badge of honor. I had heard rumors that the people in charge of overwatch bans are really ban happy lately so I went back to the game. Without cheating or sabatoge I got banned within a week and no warning. Nice. Thankfully they don't tell you why you were banned so I had to ask. In response I got the reply it was for acting like a goofball of all things. I didn't even have to use expletives or any harsh language overall(I'm not that kind of person after all I'm a goodboy). So I think I see why the game is dead. They just banned everyone! It all makes sense now.

Dont tell me you said "Hello guys" and not "Hello body types". No wonder you got banned then. Don't be offensive

"Acting like a goofball", what does that even mean?

I've never been banned from a game before. I'm glad. Just the concept of purchasing a game you spend your hard-earned money on just to be prohibited from playing in their online servers is simply disgusting. I don't even care if the reason is because the person was using racial slurs, there should be some sort of meeting or conversation about it before any sort of ban goes though. Temporary suspensions would be okay. But the internet these days are cracking down all all forms of freedom of speech and expression that doesn't fit their ideology. Who knew being a goofball needs to be shot down, killed and set on fire?

I'm sure if you bring this to someone's attention at Blizzard they will reverse. Have you got any screenshots?
It might be good to highlight this to them so the person responsible gets reprimanded.

Agree. I have Overwatch and I haven't touched it in months. There are a lot of really really good games out there to be wasting time with this one.

I wouldn't know, the game is largely dead at least for me and my friends

Indeed I tried out the game again, not really changing myself from the time I had played in the past. I heard that people were being banned for the silliest of reasons. I tested that and found it true. I believe this is a large reason the game is dead. They just ban everyone who once played. To be honest I did notice a much more notable lack of spontaneous and enjoyable folks. Mostly a bunch of people who, with grudges in their hearts, did seem to get angry when they were losing, and simply quit in the last minute. Almost no one ever responded back to much. Though the few that did always did laugh at my jests, and thanked me for bringing some levity to their match, interacting from time to time. I suppose if anyone is actually interested I could include the response I gained after inquiring as to why I was banned.

It turns out I didn't ruin any games at all, but I had just said things they didn't like. The most ridiculous thing of the lot was that I said "yay" and this was somehow proof against me to be banned amidst the rest. I suppose an onomatopoeia of joy is not permitted.

Wouldn't know, never been good enough at multiplayer games for any important person to care about me. If i do get banned at anything, it'll be for sucking at the game.
If you like me, that's great! If you hate me, that's cool, just don't hide it.

Sounds about right. You seem like a pretty even tempered dude on the forums here.
