  • Daily Poll Ninety: Do you hunt for Easter Eggs in games?

Last Daily Poll was on yearly AAA franchises. Check it out here: https://www.exclusivelygames.com/for...rly-franchises

Easter Eggs are little subtle things devs put into games usually for fun, but sometimes for more serious reasons. Bungie teased Destiny in a poster in Halo ODST. Some Easter Eggs have gotten devs in trouble like GTA IV's Hot Coffee mod or A Dark Room sneaking a code editor onto the Switch. Easter Eggs are fun things for devs to implement and for the players to find and the community to theorize about.

For me I've only ever found an Easter Egg in Portal 2. What about you guys?

Nah. If I ever find them, it's by chance.

Well, I guess I used to back in the day. I dunno if these count, but here are a few. I found one in the Super Gameboy. I found a hidden code by accident that triggered the Super Gameboy's credits. It was a series of pressing the L and R buttons.

I also found a surprise in Sonic 3 when I was younger. When pausing the game at a certain time when you spin the goal post, you could see the portrait of Knuckles (although he was blue). This was before Sonic & Knuckles was even announced, so I was sent into a frenzy trying to find some way to possibly play as Knuckles (that wasn't in the 2 player race).

Nah I never really look out for them. Found a few of course, but never on purpose.

Not really, I am not even a completionist. If I find them is by chance.

I don't know the exact number but given the choices I picked 2. I've done it more than once if I heard about an Easter egg in a game I'd played and thought it sounded interesting. Then I just followed a walk through to find it. I've never found one by accident...... wait, not true, I found the "Call Apogee" Easter egg in Wolfenstein by accident without knowing it was there and without knowing what an Easter egg was. I was like "WTF?" for a few seconds and kept playing.

I think I only hunted for Easter Eggs in Blizzard games like Warcraft 3 and StarCraft 2. Hearing the lines, finding the odd hydralisk on Azeroth etc.
Otherwise I don't, not even in Witcher 3 which I consider the best game of the decade.

Only if it's worth it. A simple picture or billboard in the game isn't going to make me hunt it down, I can watch a YouTube video to get the full experience. However if the Easter egg comes with a gameplay element like a fun or cool weapon, costume, power up, secret location to explore, etc then yes I will most likely hunt it down.
Violence doesn't solve anything, my block list does.

I am not hunting for Easter eggs, but i do acknowledge and appreciate when I encounter them - such as the Lando system in Stellaris, which is a reference to Star Wars Empire strikes back.

I don’t actively hunt for them. I’m very thorough in the games I play, so if I find one it’s not on purpose.

I actively keep an eye out for references and easter eggs whenever I'm playing games, and then when I'm done with the game I look up if there are any super cool ones I missed. Then, I go back and find them. Kinda cheating, but that's ok.

I keep an eye out for hints or references but I don't go out of my way to search for them. That's kinda silly seeing as you'd waste your time searching for a possibility of a reference.

Well I mean if I know one exists I might check it out but I wouldn't call that hunting.

I wouldn't say "hunted" as much as "read a guide to find them".
