Games you feel got unfairly bashed by gamers or reviews, that don't deserve it

I felt that way of Yooka Laylee tbh I love that game and Play Tonic did everything they set out to do with the game. I didnt expect it to be a 100% like the old games. (You have to change stuff up here or there)
But i am having a blast with the game.

Same with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it has everything I wanted off a TR game, its more puzzle focused than Rise was and so far i am having the time of my life playing through the story and exploring tombs.

What are some of the games you feel get bashed on that don't deserve it?

God Hand was the one Game i really remember getting bashed by reviewers back when it came out. Sure the game has Issues, but reading the reviews from the time just really showed the folks writing those reviews just didn't understand how to play the game properly.

Dragon age 2. The game was rushed and it re-used a lot of environments, but I liked the gameplay, and the story wasn't about being a chosen one or saving the world (which has been done a ton). It was a lot more grounded and I liked that aspect of it.

It had its flaws sure, but imo it doesn't deserve all the criticism it gets.

I was coming here to say exactly this. Even to this day, not a one of my friends has completed it and all refuse to even try despite my assurances that it's not actually awful.

I feel like people hated on FFXV way too much. A lot of people exaggerated the car driving sections, which I personally didn't mind at worst and decently enjoyed at best. The dialogue was, admittedly, pretty bad, but it helped to convey the feeling of brotherhood on the journey nonetheless. In general, for the sake of brevity, I enjoyed the game very much as a whole, and just felt like it got nitpicked to oblivion. (Disclaimer: It is also the only FF game I've played, so I don't know how it stacks up with the rest of the series.)

I agree, I really like FF XV, it got bashed for the season pass and the patches that fixed the game after people finished it, i can see why people are pissed but i still had a blast with the game. It was something different. And given it was saved out of Development Hell I think it could have ended far far worse. (but as a long final fantasy fan FF X Will always be near and dear in my heart)

I feel the exact same way, and I think the conversations between the Characters were great, i love the FF Games, but the dialogue in them often times just makes me cringe and i end up disliking a large chunk of the cast, but in 15 all of them really grew on me.

Owning the game myself and completing it, I feel it has been unfairly bashed, but everyone has their own opinion, based on their own game preference(of course).

It uses an almost original game concept of pushing and pulling objects(physics based) in the games 3D world to solve a puzzle to progress along the story.

It has its faults which probably go a long way to make it unpopular, but if you can get around those I think it's a good time waster(if wasting time is a good thing).

Tales of Legendia

I remember this game being bad mouthed left and right. The reason was that it was not made by Namco's A-team for the series. It was made by the Soul Calibur team, and you can tell.

While it's true that it was not as good as most of the other games, for me, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. It was fairly lengthy, had some interesting characters and it had decent gameplay. Was it a masterpiece? Not even close. Was it terrible? I didn't find it so. I found it to be a perfectly decent RPG.

Watch Dogs 1, while it's campaign was admittedly boring, the graphics were fine and the game play was solid. I really enjoyed plenty of elements in it and while ubisoft aren't a very good company for video gaming I feel that the watch dogs series is one of their redeeming qualities. Just don't try the pc port (shudders).

I had WD1 when the PS4 Launched and got so boared I returned the game. (and i rarely return games).
I heard WD2 is amazing tho and they fixed almost everything that was complained about the 1st game.

Duke Nukem Forever:
I'm a Duke fan so I may be a bit biased, but I still believe the game was butchered very unfairly, my view on the game is that it's simply an average 6/10 that is still very enjoyable.
But all the "worst game ever!!" screams, the 1/10s, 2/10s, 3/10s and extreme hate the game received and such is just unfair to me. I guess I was one of those people who knew how to keep my expectations in check for a game that had suffered from 12 years of problems and knew that it wouldn't live up to the hype. In the end all I wanted was to finally play it and I really liked it.
It's not good, but it's not the steaming turd that everyone says it is either.

Predator Concrete Jungle:
Critics ripped this game apart and I still don't get why. I loved every minute of it and still do to this day, it's my favorite Predator game out of them all.
The fan service is epic, the story is very good, the gameplay is fun and really true to the Predator lore.
I highly recommend it to Predator fans.

Ohh man Predator Concrete Jungle was awesome. It got ripped apart due to controls, they were ahead of there time (Like Alien Ressurections dual control scheme on PS1) and the violence. Never saw a problem with it.

There were a few but one that really annoyed me was Hunted: The Demon's Forge. I enjoyed the cooperative play of the game and the bit of secrets in the levels, and when I went to IGN, thinking I'd see praise, and they rated it very low with a quite a few negatives. I remember looking at other games that had the same issues and IGN rated them as a positive because they were AAA mainstream.

Fallout 76 is the latest one I can recall. Lot of hate on it but I feel like the hate was purely just to get on the bandwagon. I have enjoyed every bit of it so far. Sure there are no NPC, but I am still intrigued to find out what happened to everyone through reading and hearing holotapes or just looking at the environment and deducing what happened. As for the single player experience, I disabled the voice chat thing since day one and have not yet turned it back on. So far, nobody has really bothered me besides one time I stole from someone without knowing it was stealing(look out when looking at toolboxes and such in workshops owned by someone else) and then said someone killed me once. The crafting system is almost the same as Fallout 4 and i can't complain about it and the new enemies are fun. Oh and the scavenging is still just as fun as before, gotta hoard that adhesive.

I still prefer Fallout 1 and 2 though.

Been really trying to like 76. But lately every time I try to play i get met with crashes or game breaking bugs...When it works, me and my bro have a blast playing it.

Maybe it has something to do with the new updates? I haven't been able to play lately due to work but the worst bugs I encountered were enemies melding into the environment and becoming immune to damage(happened only twice in all the hours I played) and some items just floating because tables and such don't render(unless this is intentional?). Hopefully they will patch all the major bugs out soon and call the minor bugs features.

I have... quite a few, actually, but I'll keep it to just three (weirdly enough, all of them sequels):

Bioshock 2 was a game I thought was a massive improvement over the first in a lot of ways. The gunplay was better, it had some very interesting new weapons and ammo types, you could use weapons and Plasmids at the same time, the Big Sisters were great, honestly the whole Little Sister system was greatly improved; it's kind of hard to explain, but it just... FELT better. Admittedly the story wasn't as good, but it was still decently made. Also, playing as a Big Daddy was just amazing.

Prototype 2 is, well, somewhat of a similar story to Bioshock 2. Pretty much everything was improved except for the story. And yeah, Alex Mercer becoming a mustache-twirling villain out of nowhere was... jarring to say the least. But, on the other hand, it's just so damn fun to play! The joy of destruction and carnage was refined to mastery from the first. The combat is smoother and more fluid, it's more varied with enemy types, the weapon forms are more balanced (you won't be using Whipfist for 90% of the game anymore, for one), the upgrade system was simplified (in a good way), and the side activities actually mattered. There are some regressions to things like stealth (you will be missed, Patsy...), but really, it's hard to argue with the simple pleasure of eating someone, turning his buddy into a bomb, throwing it into a crowd of enemies, and hijacking the resulting attack helicopter and using it to blow up half of New York.

And finally, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Hoo boy. I've said multiple times now (somewhat jokingly, but I digress) that I will never forgive the gaming community for what it did to this game. What we got was a game with fun challenges, a very unique and enjoyable gameplay style, that classic Rare charm and dialogue, and a vehicle creation system so in-depth and customizable that it puts most similar systems in other games to shame. It remains one of my favorite games of all time. It is simply a delight to play. And all of this was ultimately condemned and discarded because it wasn't what people were expecting. Because it was 'too different.' Because it "wasn't Banjo Kazooie." And then, when the criticism became too great, and the sales continued to disappoint, Rare was essentially canned and left only working on Kinect games. Effectively and efficiently ruining the chances that we might ever get a sequel, whether in this style, or more traditional, as the ending implied.

With Bioshock 2 and Prototype 2, I get annoyed about the backlash, but I understand that a lot of people simply value story over gameplay, and I can accept that. But when it comes to Nuts and Bolts, I just get sad, and angry. Sad because so few people seem to see in this game what I do, and because I might never get to play something like it again. Angry because it was all done not because it was a bad game, or because it didn't function correctly, or even because it made some statement that people disagreed with. It was all just because of nostalgia.

Banjo and Kazooi nuts and bolt is a underrated gem. But stuff like this overshadowed now.

"Alpha Protocol"

this action RPG PS3 was actually made by Obsidian enough said, amirite? When released got bad reviews for what I felt like were actually minor glitches, this was one of the last game that me and my roommate both played over and over using different combat and storyline strategies, it feels almost like a Metal Gear game collided with Dragon Age(2) this might not sound like a great game, and for many reasons it isn't a great game for everyone. When you come to terms with the fact that the AI is not great and you may find a few non game breaking glitches. RPG fans will still enjoy all the things they can do in this game with dialogue choices, and talent trees.

Bioshock 2 was mostly well received by critics and some gamers liked it, but it's still treated as the black sheep of the franchise even though it's the best game in the series.
