  • What was your first video game and what was your favorite memory associated with it?

The first video game I ever played was Halo: CE. My favorite memory associated with it was getting the absolute shit scared out of me by my brother when we were first introduced to the flood, jumped about a foot off the couch.

Its been a looong time but i remember when the Soviet block fell we could get Atari here and playing Pong, and the Famiclone consoles, and games like the Flintstones and Mario etc

We later got an IBM 286 PC and playing Commander Keen on it, Titus the Fox, the Dizzy games.

    These games formed my childhood.

That would be Super Mario World for Super Nintendo. I remberber that because It was my first take on that kind of entertainment, and because I had lots of fun playing it with some friends.

Aww haha one my first games that I remember was a mario game too, Mario Brothers for the NES. I remember the Halloween levels or such actually caused me to have dreams as if I was stuck in the level/worlds. Well, it was that or because I played the game so much.

Hard to remember my first video game, I think it was Space Invaders but it might have been Asteroids, back on a BBC Micro when I was about 5.
It was so long ago and I was so young that I don't really have many memories of it, nothing that could be called a "favorite" sadly.

Now later games like Commander Keen (getting the pogo stick for the first time!) or Wolfenstein 3d (getting the full game after being stuck playing the shareware for months!)

Atari 2600 and I loved Enduro and "Pega Ladrão" (AKA Keystone Kapers).

Me and my brother played a lot, and we went in the neighborhood to play with friends.

My first game was Tetris for the Gameboy, and I instantly got hooked and my best memory is bonding with my Dad over the game while taking turns trying to get higher scores.

Probably Atari Breakout or River Raid on Atari 2600. Both connect to memories of playing these games w/ a couple of my brothers specifically. A lot of fun jeering, enjoyable competition, having pizza (& actual soda!) when Da wasn't home.

My first game was Digger. I was 4 or 5 years old and I had no clue what I was doing, but since then I was in love with video games. If I remember correctly, my dad introduced me to games, but he really regreted it later, cause when I was trying to open Digger on my own I somehow manage to fuck up computer, by changing some files names and deleting few files. Probably for me it was just of another type of game... Anyway, after short ban I was taught how to open my game. And computer had case with lock for few years - dad was taking key with him to work.

I don't think I ever played Digger but it does remind me of Dig Dug, on the NES i think it was.

Pong, I am dead serious, not the original Atari Pong console but Pong the Atari 2600, that was my first console, I did not found it amusing, to be quite honest, I would rather play outside with my friends, I only really got interested in video games when I had the NES, that was when I started spending some time in front of the television, the Atari 2600 was something more on the line of "oh, that is cute but also quite boring".

Some really old C64 game that you walk around and collect robot parts, like screen to screen; kind of a top-down view. I can never remember what it's called and can never find it again.. sadness

I think the first game I ever played must have been Lifeboat on Game&Watch. If that doesn't count, it was probably Super Mario Bros. on the NES.
Favourite moment was the first time I got to play it. :P

My first game was either Nerf Arena Blast or Rampage: World Tour, which one I cannot remember. These games I played so much with my family when I was such a young kid, this games really were my life at that time, and most of my early memories are the smack talk me and my sisters would exchange during the games.

This game is i believe the earliest memory I have, I have yet to play a game like it, aside from its sequel that I loved even more.

a few years after I got the second game, I finally figured out how to play online. Forever I had seen the multiplayer button but whenever I opened it, the server browser was empty and I had no idea why. one day i created my own lobby, i titled it "is anyone there?" and waited for a few moments, someone by the name of Axeminister joined my game. I was so excited, he told me that if I wanted to see other people, I would need to update the game, I was running stock right off the disk and before pandemic folded, they had released a 1.1 and a 1.2 patch for the game, everyone was on 1.2 they could see my game, but are not able to join. Axeminister decided to load up a stock version of the game just to come tell me to update XD and how to do it, because at that time i was just some kid having no idea what i was doing. So once I updated, and checked out the server browser, I COULD SEE GAMES!!! now there was only like 4 or 5 matches open (the community was dying off by the time i got to it) but the people who where left where a real tight nit group of people which was perfect for me. I met a lot of friends and had a lot of good times, I expressed interest in modding the game, and tinkering with it and stuff, because of that the part of the community who where working on the 1.3 patch (the community started patching the game them selves with the help of two remaining original programmers after the studio died) it was a community effort, anyways they let be on the beta team so i could test out the new patches with everyone. it made me feel important and belong in their community. but of course me being a silly moody teenager, i upset one of the head guys and he kicked me out, i retaliated a little bit and made an elaborate hoax about moving the game over to the Xbox and made a pretty convincing video showing it 'working' with fake bugs and challenges that i was trying to overcome XD i fooled a few people. eventually i left the community for a while, came back several years later and confessed my sins XD only the one guy doesn't like me but everyone else seems to be okay now XD. fast forward like 10 years to now, a company called rebellion had bought the rights to make a new version of the unrelated battlezone arcade game and accidentally bumped into our community, they then remastered battlezone 98 last year and then battlezone 2 mid this year bringing some life back into the community

Anyways, i contribute this game to me becoming a gamer,
I contribute the community encouraging modding to me becoming a modder, learning basic coding, tinkering with hardware, and way further down the line me fining my career in the tech world.
I contribute the community to introducing me to the INTERNET! cause i really never used the internet for anything until i had to update the game XD

this game series and its online community has a special place in my heart, I still have my original discs and I will never give those away.

My first ever videogame memory period was watching my older cousin play Mario World, I was probably like 4 or 3?
the first videogame ive personally played were either Kirby, Tom and Jerry or Sabrina for the gameboy color.
