Thoughts on PS2

So many of the games themselves are classics, just make sure that you have a screen that isn't a flat panel before going through the extra trouble of gathering anything hard to find, or expensive. The PS2 does't play too great unless you have a tube television. I had one that worked great for years, until I mistakenly gave away my old TV, and then the PS2 framerate looked like ass and smears the frames all over the screen. Make to go to Goodwill and pick up a CRT TV if you are serious about it looking good. Its even better if you have a set of component cables.

I've played so many hours of 3, 4 and 5 and never finish them. I love them, but just fall off and get distracted. Someday.Originally posted by Yiggdrasill View Post
If you can manage it i suggest going back to persona 3. Its what got me into the series and is well deserving of its high reputation

The fat one isnt even that bad. Its not pretty looking, and i heard the laser might fail more on the fatter ones, but theyre not like white xboxs. One kind of slim that would be cool to get is the yellow one, but its a japan exclusive and theyre rare to come by

Xenosaga was amazing the first game was alot harder compared to the sequels... unless I just sucked. I did like the change is at style. The dot hack series is amazing and think it would be awesome for a new one to come out. I just got the remaster of g.u.

sooo many good obscure games, or at least the ones i had fun with...
Blood will tell, I'm still clinging to a hope that one day, maybe just maybe there will be a sequel.

I remember first seeing a trailer for persona 3 and thinking wow that looks dumb as hell(when he uses the evoker). Then Christmas time came around and my buddy wanted to get me a game and I didn't have anything in mind so I was like that dumb looking game. Turned into one of the best spur of the moment choices I've ever made. Love the series and they just keep getting better. I actually have a blow up teddy from p4 arena

I have a n64, hell i even got a japanese pokemon stadium that i realised we never got in the us because it doesnt have all 151 pokemon. Yea its a pretty good console, but its too hot for the 2nd game market imo, but it would be kickass to get a Conkers Bad Fur Day complete in box

I love the PS2. Very important console in the grand scheme of things, and very important console for RPGs.
For obscure games, I tend to focus on RPGs so that's where most of my suggestions point, and I only tend to recommend games that are actually good. Here's a few that I can think of:
Eternal Poison
Growlanser: Heritage of War
Suikoden Tactics
Wild Arms: Alter Code F
Stella Deus

I love the PS2. Don't have a fat one but the slim isn't bad. Rogue Galaxy is an amazing game. The .Hack series, Xenosaga, Metal Saga and Fatal Frame. There are probably a few more hidden gems out there but those are the ones I can definitely recommend.

For it's library, it's price, ubiquity and the DVD player. Some of my favorites for it were Shadow of the Colossus, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Final Fantasy XII, MGS3, Disgaea, Shining Force EXA and Puzzle Quest. Last thing I remember playing on it was Persona 3 FES right before I got a PS3.
