I know you are asking about the ps2, but if you are into that generation then i suggest an n64 as well (both not one or the other) they are the consoles that defined a generation and launched many series (just google a top games list and you will struggle to get less than 25 on both) and both made that big jump to 3d

Sadly, I don't have a PS1 or PS2 collection anymore, but the PS2 was an essential life item for such a long time. For it's library, it's price, ubiquity and the DVD player. Some of my favorites for it were Shadow of the Colossus, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Final Fantasy XII, MGS3, Disgaea, Shining Force EXA and Puzzle Quest. Last thing I remember playing on it was Persona 3 FES right before I got a PS3.

I love collecting for the PS2 so many great games
For obscure games try looking into these games
Under the Skin, you play as an alien, it's all cell shaded and it's made by capcom it has been on my buy list for a long time, but from what I have seen it looks like a blast.
Mr Mosquito, Controls are wonky but you play as a Mosquito it's fun for a while.
WhipLash, you play as a weasel like thing handcuffed to a bunny, trying to escape an animal research facility.
Katamari Damacy or we ♥ Katamari , the last two I would call the most popular of the obscure games for the PS2 but still very good.

Overrated console, amazing game library. If you look at most cross platform games on the PS2, the PS2 typically had the worse or worst version, especially with those insanely long loading times. Some of the games I adored on it though were SSX3 and Tricky, the best snowboarding games to date IMO, Jak And Daxter trilogy, Need for Speed Underground all the way to Prostreet, Star Wars Battlefront I and II, Gran Turismo 3 and 4, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, and many many more! Admittedly not very obscure games, but I was a kid when this console was at its peak so I wasn't exactly a connoisseur.

I recommend the classics like Spyro the Dragon, Crash, Sly Cooper, and Jack & Daxter if you've never played them. They aren't really obscure games but I do really like them.
