State of the Game: Overwatch

I only played Overwatch once during one of the free weekends, and I didn't like it. It lacks the charm of Team Fortress 2.

I'm not an OG Overwatch get but I got in about six months after launch on PS4.

I find OW to be a game that drifts in and out of my rotation depending on what else is releasing at the time. I've been on and off of it multiple times over the last few years. I was playing it every night during the summer release drought, since Sep though there's been so much single player content coming out I haven't felt the need to pop it in the tray.

However, this does make me appreciate the way content is fed into the game, as each time I go back, there's usually a new character and map to get to grips with which costs me nothing. If this was BF or CoD I'd be twenty quids worth of DLC or an entire sequel out of date compared to the rest of the community. Obviously there's the moral question of that new contents funding via loot boxes but I think that's a different conversation.

Excellent response guys! We've heard a couple, but I'd like to hear from veterans still playing the game as well.

As a player with over 300 levels in the game and a total of 5000 games played I could place my total opinion on the game, but I am sure that wouldn't give others a chance to state their opinion. And opinions are what drive ideas.

I love the game. It's fun. Sure, it has some imbalances between champs (operators, heroes, etc etc), but the challenge is fun. However, not enough people play it. Or, I should say, not enough types of people play it. The player-base seems to be split. You either play with noobs or you play against veterans. You are either completely destroyed or you are destroying. As a level 40 or 50, I get queued up with the likes of people who have reached level 500, and at the same time, level 12s.

The only thing i have to say about that game is the guns feel like farts.

I haven't played it in over a year and even then I never played it much. I also don't want the pro scene. That being said, I never hear anything about it. The only time I've heard about it recently was when Seagull made that video about "The State of Overwatch". He is a huge name in OW and I think that video being the only thing I hear about OW in over a year tells a lot.
