Persona 5: The most stylish RPG made to date in my opinion. The story is engaging, the characters are mostly well written, the combat is super fun and make dungeon crawling fun and not feel like a chore.

Witcher 3 + Expansions/DLC: I think CDPR put more love into this game that translates to a fun player experience than maybe any other studio I've ever seen. Geralt is a badass and you feel like one playing him, while also combining interesting characters, a deep engaging story, and side quests that are fun/interesting and will add plenty of hours to your play time to give you more bang for your buck.

Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2: This RPG series completely surprised me with how good I found it. The best thing I found about this is the characters. They're written very well and you find yourself caring for them by the end. The game is almost fully voice acted, it has a very fun battle system that evolves and is fun in the first game, but also changes and gets better in the 2nd, and the story is interesting enough to keep you going with how serious/political it gets but also goes back to a more light hearted feel at times because at the end of the day, your main characters are high school kids. Underrated series that is hopefully going to get an english port for the 3rd and 4th games that are currently out in Japan.

I can say you should probably play Evo: The Search for Eden if only for it's exploration of ideas ahead of it's time

If you ask me, i would recommend you play Dark souls 1-3, i think they're all pretty good in gameplay, and the lore it's sooooo gooood (at least it feels that way to me).
If you wanna play some things with a little less lore but still fun, i would say things like Iconoclast, Dead cells, Enter the gungeon, Darkest dungeon, they all have some good lore, and they're all so much fun!
Anyways, i hope you can find hapinness in any of the games i recommended!

I'd say "Thomas Was Alone" is a game well worth playing if you're after a good story based game.

Of the one not mentioned here. I'll say Valkyria Chronicles. Honestly I've never really found a game that scratched quite the same itch and if it weren't because I was in the middle of moving I would have tried out the recently released fourth one. It's probably also one of the most interesting ways to mix fantasy and WW2. I would suggest anyone to try it at least once and it should be pretty cheap and available on PC now.

I'd say Deadspace 1&2. Unfortunately Deadspace 3 bombed. Also Darksiders 1-3. I've played the first two and I haven't picked up third yet but plan on it.

I played Original Sin and really didn't like it. I hate RPGs where you can't grind, to me that's a part of the experience. By the time I got to the end of the game my party just didn't have what it takes. I know I should a) get gud b) re-spec my party but I just CBA and stopped playing it

I would highly recommend playing Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Divinity 1, Beyond Divinity and Any dungeons and dragons game such as Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale if you like RPGs or any Diablo game so long as you don't mind isometric movements.

I recommend playing Fallout 3 or New Vegas if you prefer shooters with a good story and Elder Scrolls games if you prefer action rpg with a good story and big worlds to explore. Dragon Dogma is also a great game and Kingdom of Amalur Reckoning was a lot of fun. Finally on this section, any legend of zelda game.

For more linear games, God of War is a good hack and slash, at least God of War 1 to 3 as the last one has more RPG elements, and F.E.A.R. or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series are way better stories than any run of the mill Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or Battlefield game in my opinion. Can't forget half life 1 and 2 plus Red Faction.

Strategy game wise, Stronghold crusader for a more focus on army or Total War games for a more turn based and in depth turn based strategy game. There are others in this area like Europa Universalis but I find the learning curb to be steep and that can put people off.

For more casual game play, any super mario game and pokemon game. You can go more hard core on either but generally, they can be a pick up and play for a bit each day without any general strategy although pokemon requires more time to learn the type advantages.

There are a bunch more games I can recommend and think people should give a try at least once such as Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, Golden Sun, White Knight Chronicles, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Red Dead Redemption, Guns, Fable, Donkey Kong, etc. The end of the day though, I recommend watching some gameplay videos before purchasing any game just to see if it is something you will enjoy or not.

Posting again...I could probably list 20 games, but add'l votes for Horizon Zero Dawn & Prey as well, along with Deus Ex: Human Revolution (last gen), & DE: Mankind Divided (current gen). Hell, add the whole Dishonored series too. Whatever you end up playing, I hope you have a blast!

I'd recommend a early access game from Supergiant games called Hades. It's a rougelite that already plays great even in early access and the developers post patch notes almost every day, all in all seems promising plus Supergiant hasn't failed yet in my eyes with their games
