I just got off the phone with a girlfriend of mine, and she needed my help, My husband wasn't much help, though. She was asking me if she should get a console and some games for her 14 year old son. As I'm neither a boy, nor 14, I'm not really knowledgeable about what that set plays. I think I'm going to steer her towards a PS4, but I need some games to recommend to her. Her son plays Arc on Steam, I think that's the title, but they have a mac, and for the steam program, that's kind of crippling, so if anyone could steer me to some good mac games for her son on steam, that would also be helpful. I was hoping to find some suggestions for her before Tuesday, the next time we'll be getting together. She's also pretty conservative, so I'm looking for something fairly clean to recommend to her, and most of the games I play and like; i couldn't recommend to her. He likes adventures, shoot-'em-ups, and action games, including minecraft. Thanks in advance for ANY help anyone can give me!

Terraria, perhaps? It's a rather friendly and calm game, and it's similar to Minecraft in concept, minus a dimension. It does have some instances of blood tho, but it's all pixelated, so you can't really tell. It is available on Mac and PS4 as well, so you don't have to worry about potential incompatibility issues either.

If you do take the console route be it Xbox One or PS4, you can't go wrong with Red Dead Redemption 2 (M). If you opt for the PS4 there are some exclusive games that are quite good on that console such as Spider-Man (T), Detroit Become Human (M), and God of War (M). Some additional options across both PS4 and XBox One are Assassin's Creed Odyssey(M) and Call of Duty Black Ops 4 (M).
The letter at the end of each is the game's rating T for Teen and M for Mature.
I'm afraid I won't be much use with Mac compatible games. I can toss you a Steam link that might offer a few options. I'm not sure if by Arc you meant Perfect World's Arc player for their MMOs like Star Trek Online or not. If so, I believe STO and some others are now supported on both consoles. Hope that helps. Have a Merry Christmas.

If you want clean, you can’t do much better than a Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate should be more than enough to entertain the lad for hundreds of hours. Plus he can take it with him wherever he goes.
PS4 is an equally great console with equally great games, but many of it’s best aren’t quite as clean.

I do think going the console route it the better direction here. I also think Spiderman for ps4 would also fit into the categories you gave and is a fairly clean game. I believe the Spiderman ps4 bundle is also still being sold as well.
Monster Hunter world, Rocket League, and Horizon: Zero Dawn are also fun games as well. I find that most of my young cousins gravitate toward Rocket League when they come over.
Also agree with the person above. A Switch is probably the best console for clean games, though it does still have some games with blood and gore too.

my thoughts exactly, the switch is a good conservative friendly option with way to many great games and more on the way. If your set on recomending a ps4 then lke arc subnautica is another crafting/survival game thats simply amazing and only 29.99 lol. other kid friendly'ish options that are great fun are monster hunter world, spiderman (someone already mentioned this but seriously its good), horizon zero dawn, starlink, dragon quest builders, theres even free games like warframe and tera he can download.... or get him psplus for the year and he'll get two free games each month for the system XDOriginally posted by Bright Shield View PostIf you want clean, you can’t do much better than a Switch. It would be best to get him a PC although his parents probably won't want to do that since he already has a Mac. If that's the case, then I agree with the other people that the switch would be the best choice. Smash Ultimate just released, so he would probably be excited to play that.My Profile > Edit Settings > Account Tab > Scroll down to "Conversational Detail Options" > Click the Link > Eat a cookie

Terreria is a great choice of game. Doesn't matter what age you are that will suck you in. I still lament my legendary 100 hour castle that went bye-bye due to a corupted HD before it all went auto to the cloud on steam. It sounds like he is a pc gamer in the making but I would concur if you want to keep it clean, the switch has a healthy "wholsome" collection of games.
