I'm not quite sure if this counts as being scared, but the first time that a game's ever made me feel sick to my stomach was when I saw the bad ending to Abe's Oddysee. It's not an over-the-top or grotesque cutscene, but it makes use of what you don't see and just hints at what happens to Abe which is the kind of thing that destroys me the most due to my overactive imagination. Granted, I saw it when I was pretty young, so maybe I wouldn't be as scarred by it today.

For me without question silent hill on the PS1. Other games had given me the cheap jump scares so overly used in modern horror movies, but silent hill was DEEPLY unsettling and truly scary throughout. The feeling of relief only coming when you reverted back to the normal overworld from the "hell side".

The soundtrack is a work of genious no doubt.

Oh! The Mummy game on PS1. I played it on PC and never even finished the first level. That terrified me as a kid. Props to the devs for making such a scary atmosphere.

Warcraft 3, Human Campaign, the defense mission against Undead. I was a little kid at the time, and getting swarmed by undead was scary, particularly given my rather vivid imagination.

imagine being me at 6 years old playing Unreal for the PC, that game practically WAS a horror game at my age with the ambience and the people screaming for their life. The first time I encountered a "Brute" enemy while chasing me with that tense music nearly traumatised me. I gave the game to my cousin, nowdays I can beat the game no problem, and I find it nastalgic.

I'm sure various game scared or creeped me out before this, but the one that comes to mind is Doom 3.

In early 2008 I was temporarily prohibited from working for about three months.

I was so creeped out by the game I could only clear one or two rooms at a time. I'd save and do something else for a few hours. I'd only play during the day time, and it took almost the entire three months to complete.

I think the ammo and armor carrying over and being so limited got to me more than the actual demons and jump scares. I was so worried I'd end up in a position Of have to start the game over again due to being stuck somewhere.

Choosing between a flashlight and gun sure didn't help though.

I've beaten the game multiple times since, but the first treck through was horrifying .

    Blake Stone Aliens of Gold.

I was probably 3 or 4 years old when i fist played that game with my parents around. i would ALWAYS get scared of the "YOUR DEAD!" that the guy in the picture down below would scream

Thankfully, i got over this eventually and started loving the game

Oh yeah. It's gonna be epic. From the gameplay footage they've been releasing it feels a lot more claustrophobic then the original.

That scared me so bad I yelled out loud and threw my controller. Since then stuff only really ever creeped me out. Not really scared me, until Alien Isolation. Good lawd that game. That game has a pucker factor of 10.

Around 2010. I downloaded 'Five Nights at Freddy's' on my dads' phone. Thought it looked cool with camera's and stuff. It wasn't cool.
