    Greatest Video Game Soundtrack?

For me its by far Everybody's Gone to Rapture, produced by Jessica Curry.

If you haven't already, the game is worth playing for Jessica's masterpiece alone.

I love the soundtrack to both Hotline miami and Furi. They both work at creating a kind of drug induced haze into you as you play without distracting from the gameplay.

Halo by far is the best. It has amazingly epic scores that hype up the player. It also fits the religiously mystical vibes as well. It's just too iconic to not name #1. If you hear it, you know it's Halo. Almost everyone does.

Each track fits the area that it's a part of perfectly.

Skyrim and fallout 4 are good.
Minecraft, wow, witcher 3, crash bandicoot, hitman blood money, God of war had some good music too.
I know I've missed some but the music in video games have come so far kind of like the voice acting and story telling.

Hm - I feel I need to nominate retro and modern separately since the death of 'stage tunes' and progression to full game scores.

R-Type Delta (PS1) - it's just fucking majestic how good this music is.

Remember Me (PS3/360) - perfectly suited the atmosphere of the game and it's technically a very complex synth-orchestral mix. Seriously if you've never heard this you're going to be amazed.

I can't decide which is the best one for me because whenever I finish a game, I always look up the OST on Youtube because I find good tracks in all of them. But to name some:
    • Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005)
    • Half Life 1 and 2
    • Portal 1 and 2
    • The Last of Us
    • Uncharted 1 and 4.
    • Mafia 1 and 2

Anything from Frank Klepacki ( Lands of Lore, Command & Conquer, Dune 2000, Blade Runner). Lots of soundtracks available for free on his website.

I've always liked a lot of the music in need for speed games. I can't narrow it down to one installment though. They never get the full sound tracks right. But there are some nice hidden gems in a few of them. Ordinary by buzzhorn. Wall of shame. Goin down on it by hot action cop.

    Superbad..

Minecraft has the best ambient music in the game rn
Edit: also I can still remember revangace's soundtrack to this day so that is pretty high on my list

I really like most of the Castlevania game soundtracks, Symphony of the Night's songs still pop up in my head from time to time

Hard to choose, but the first ones that come to mind are Skyward Sword, Undertale and Rime. The three of them instantly make me think about parts of the game that touched me specially and felt like something else. Skyward Sword's ending song might be my favorite from any soundtrack ever probably.

    Here's why.

Remember that Automata won best soundtrack and they didn't even play the music.
