Final Fantasy 7, Legend of Legaia, and Legend of Dragoon. These RPG's started my love for video gaming.

I guess i will date myself... Pong on a black and white T.V. i could not beleive you could control things on a T.V. when I was a kid seemed like magic. Over the generations i have been Wowed many times by innovations. OG Atari to current consoles and the P.C. Hard time pinpointing a moment.

Halo 3 was a ginormous impact on my life. As a teen, that game took so many hours of my life, but it helped me create the lifelong friends I currently have. It was pure fun and the first game I actually felt good at. It left me with great memories. I know Halo is not what it used to be, but that won't change how my experiences in the past have shaped me. Halo had the community that I hope to find here, one that just wants to play the game or talk about it and have fun. I believe that community still exists, but with the franchises games being so unimpressive, it's hard for people to be as engaged as they used to. Hopefully the future will be brighter.

Positive impact, I'd say Xenogears, which inspired me to read a lot of mythology and philosophy that's still relevant to my life today.

Negative impact, DotA. I spent so much time playing it that it allowed me to realize what an absolute time sink it was, alongside MMOs and mobile games, for little real world reward. In the time I spent playing DotA (and I started with the original WC3 DotA), I could have become fluent in a foreign language. Now I'm incredibly conscious of how much of my time a game is requesting of me vs what value I'm getting from investing that time.

Dark Age of Camelot MMO was great, community, raiding other realms, tons of great memories and friends made. They expansioned me out sort of like WOW did ,, after the blood elves things were never the same.

I want to say Marvel VS Capcom 3. It came out within the first few weeks of my (failed) college course and a lot of the students were playing it in the rec room. One time I was late to a lecture and so was this other guy. He was very into fighting games and my overall experience is probably way too much of a time sink into Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was basically a button masher relying purely on hope. But he took the time to explain how to play the game, and for once I wasn't garbage at a fighting game.

I got really invested in fighting games and watching competitions. I enjoy making combos and going head to head, and the commentary is the best at tournaments, hands down. I don't have the skills to match, but I find watching fighting games easy, and the comebacks feel way more prominent than other types of esport. I actually want to try Kage in SFV but I probably have ZERO points to do that XD

Jagged Alliance 2. Such a well done masterpiece with very memorable characters and strategic and deep gameplay mechanics. My friend still plays it through every year, hah! I do it from time to time too. One of the game series I wish would make a glorious comeback.

That would be Final Fantasy VIII in my case. Not the first game I've ever played by a long shot but is still has this "first one" bonus in regards of RPGs (although I played PoKéMoN way before that) and FF and will always hold special place on my list for that matter.

Second to that would be PSOv2 because it was my first online gaming experience. So sad that PSO2 is JP only…

There are three games eries that influenced me the most, Police Quest, Wing Commander and Jagged Alliance.

I love police themed games, there is a real shortage of these. However space action themed games like Wing Commander are getting somewhat of a revival right now that makes me very happy. And I agree, that JA2 was never really topped by anything after that, even though I kinda enjoyed the "JA: Back In Action" titles (many old school fans didn't like these, but I did).

@Horna: Funny, I also play through JA2 every other year or so.

Okami. that game almost singlehandedly introduced me to console gaming and inspired a bit of a fascination with Japanese culture.

Two games - Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II and Destiny.

JK got me heavy into the modding and level building scene. It almost convinced me to become a game developer. I spent countless hours playing that game with virtual friends. Destiny just caused me to waste 1500+ hours of my life and taught me a lesson to never do such a stupid thing again. :P

Oh yes... and ABACABB. I think that had a profound impact for a lot of us.

Gaming was important to me ever since I was just a small kid. Been playing various games as the years have passed and some of them had significant impact on me in different ways. The most impactful game overall was the original Counter-Strike, which introduced me to online gaming, first person shooters (my favourite genre), modding and much more. Meanwhile APB Reloaded and Left 4 Dead 2 helped me through hard times in recent years. Last game that wasn't as impactful as the other three is RuneScape and it helped me to learn English back when I could barely understand it.
