‘ITTA’ Coming to Nintendo Switch and PC in 2020
- Players will face 18 difficulty bosses.
- Several weapons and modifiers to use.
- A story about never giving up.
Developer Glass Revolver and publisher Armor Glass Studios have announced that their latest pixel adventure title ITTA will be releasing on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in 2020. Development on the title began in December of 2016 when developer Jacob Williams was in a psych ward. It was, as he claims, the lowest point of his life. Thank you to Gematsu for breaking the news first.
ITTA is designed for players who love arcade-inspired bullet hell titles, and it’s set in a world with monstrous bosses. Players will be placed in the role of Itta, who awakens to find her family dead all around her. When all hope seems lost, she finds herself guided by a strange spirit that takes the form of the family cat. This spiritual feline then gives Itta a glowing revolver, perfect for both protection and destruction.
It’s up to you as Itta to seek out powerful beings that are locked underneath what has always appeared to be a peaceful world. Once they’ve been freed, it’s up to you to fight them to the death in chaotic battles. Bosses and enemies range from hulking golems, to terrible horrors. This is a journey designed to push the player past their limits, as well as Itta. Scattered across ITTA are various weapons that have different attack styles, allowing you to choose how you want to combat enemies. When things get too difficult, there are modifiers players can use to their advantage, such as invincibility and damage multipliers.
The developer is adamant that ITTA is a title that’s been inspired by themes of personal struggle. In life, and in this title, players constantly find themselves in and out of light, in happy times and in hard ones. The central message of ITTA, from the developers to the player, is that they keep going no matter what. We are to never give up, no matter what horrors ourselves we must endure. Other features are as follows:
- Topple 18 deadly bosses in tight, twin-stick, bullet-hell combat.
- Wield an arsenal of power spirit weapons to fight in new ways.
- Unlock the mystery of a bizarre, crumbling world and its cryptic inhabitants.
- Explore a beautiful, pixel-art world backed by a haunting and eclectic musical score.
- Never hit a wall; freely toggle damage multipliers or invincibility.
It’s a great message that developer Glass Revolver is trying to spread. Luckily, ITTA happens to look fantastic as well. I’ll be picking it up day one, but how about you? What do you think about the title? To stay up to date on ITTA, make sure to follow the developers on Twitter, Facebook, and their official website.
