Review: A new Bloodrayne game? I was both surprised and excited. I really like the first game. The checking off your kills on a photographic list. The combination of guns and cool looking blades was awesome. And come on, have you seen a game with a three-way final battle, everyone against everyone with special events depending who kills who first? Review: A new Bloodrayne game? I was both surprised and excited. I really like the first game. The checking off your kills on a photographic list. The combination of guns and cool looking blades was awesome. And come on, have you seen a game with a three-way final battle, everyone against everyone with special events depending who kills who first? I haven't seen anything like that yet, at least not since the first Bloodrayne game. The second Bloodrayne game was a bit of a disappointing. The gameflow got slower and you couldn't pick up random guns anymore. The villains were quite cool at least.

So I choose to start up Bloodrayne: betrayel as the first game in my newly acquired PS now. I immediately got confused when I notice it was a 2d sidescroller but I stayed positive since I just got of 70h+ gameplay in Hallow Knight. I thought that they probably didn't get a big budget for a old franchise as Bloodrayne with the last game kinda sucking. Apparently there are three movies now based on Bloodrayne made by Uwe Boll. I remember turning of the first movie after the sex scene since I though that this was probably the only highlight in whole really bad movie (the evil terminator from terminator 3 played Bloodrayne in the first movie).

Oh boy was I right about the budget. The game is just simple put bad. The dialog which made the first Bloodrayne game especially good is all gone. Instead there about 20 comic bubbles of text in the whole games. The waste majority of enemies can be killed by hitting them once and then draining them of blood which also heals you. The first two bosses are basically the same. There are only two guns in the game and the first gun is mostly for emergency since you only have about 4 shots without upgrades. For some reason there is a part in the last chapters where you have to navigate as a pigeon through dangerous obstacles. This was the only hard part in the game but only because of the really badly programmed wing-flapping of the pigeon. Think flappy bird but harder. And this comes from a guy that won a Xbox back in 2003 in a similar game challenge held by pcgamer. The game is quite short but that is almost a positive thing since you don't want to play it for long.

Pros:
Nostalga feeling for Bloodrayne...perhaps?
The casual way Bloodrayne leans on bloodfontain checkpoint when she respawns.

Cons:
Boring weapons.
Easy enemies.
Repetitive chapters.
Bad pigeon flappyness.
No real engaging dialog. Close
