‘Stone’ Coming to Xbox One in December
- Will be available on December 11th.
- Pick it up for $14.99.
- Retrace your steps and search for clues.
Developer Convict Games has announced that the Xbox One version of Stone will release on the 11th of December for $14.99. The title will support English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese language options. Stone originally released for PC via Steam back in September 2018, and an iOS version followed in April 2019.
Stone is described as a Hip-Hop Stoner Noir, and it follows the story of a hungover, yet lovable, fat koala who is also known to be a tremendous jerk. He is a 200 pound private investigating koala that is trying to put together the pierces of what happened the night before, where he drank far too much to remember. He is in search of his “chookie” Alex, who is a lorikeet raver and artist.
Players are encouraged to explore Oldtown. Oldtown is filled with bars, clubs, and lawn bowls. You’ll learn over the course of the title that this is exactly the type of place that a koala like Stone would enjoy spending their time. Stone slowly opens up as an interactive story that’s been inspired by old school adventure games, but without the frustrations point and click titles can bring. The developers also are happy to state that it also will not feature overly vague puzzles. Players can enjoy nice melodic music, public domain cinema classics, side games, and features a bunch of trash-talking animals with hilarious accents and substance abuse problems.
Players can choose between being delicate in their responses, or stern with vulgarity, as they interact with other characters through dialogue options. The search for clues as to Alex’s whereabouts isn’t always clear, but some characters only respond to certain types of approaches. Retrace Stone’s steps as he tries to recall the night before, and travel to the various locations he was at. You’ll interrogate business owners, friends, and others as you try to learn what happened to his beloved chookie. Other features are as follows:
- Inspired by classic stoner-noir films, underground art forms and writers such as Charles Bukowski, Ernest Hemingway, Hunter S. Thompson, and Thomas Pynchon.
- Take a “hard ass” or “soft-touch” approach while conversing with an insane cast of characters with hilarious accents and an attitude problem to figure out what the fuck happened last night.
- Spend time watching public domain films, exploring diverse locales, going clubbing, drinking, smoking, and chilling.
