‘The Grisaia Trilogy’ for Nintendo Switch Gets Trailer

  • The entire series with all content comes to Nintendo.
  • Playable with one Joy-Con.
  • Releasing the November.

Prototype has released a trailer on YouTube that showcases The Grisaia Trilogy for Nintendo Switch. This collection will include The Fruit of Grisaia, The Labyrinth of Grisaia, and its three companion short scenarios: After Story, The Cocoon of Caprice, and Shot Short Scenario. Also included is The Eden of Grisaia and its additional stories: The Seed of Blanc Aile and Prologue. To round off the collection are the side episodes: The Leisure of Grisaia, The Afterglow of Grisaia, and The Melody of Grisaia.

The collection brings with it new features not found in prior releases. Every title will include full touch screen support, the ability to play with only one Joy-Con, and being able to switch between English and Japanese text seamlessly. The voice acting, however, is only available in Japanese. You will also get a digital manual available should you have any issues with the game. The Grisaia Trilogy lands on Nintendo Switch on the 7th of November. PC players can get the entire collection on Steam for roughly $100.

The Grisaia games started off as adult romance visual novels. To allow their release on consoles, the adult portions had to be removed, and this began when the original released for the PlayStation Portable and the PS Vita back in 2013. Uncensored versions are still available on PC through other sites. Much of the game is you reading narrative and dialogue between characters, with sprites on the screen in front of hand-drawn backgrounds. There are branching story plot points, and depending on the decisions you make, your ending can be different.

A brief overview of the story goes as follows. The first entry, that was released in 2011, focuses on Kazami Yuuji trying to live a normal life while developing a relationship with five other girls. He is also the only boy in the school and the game uses this to keep a lighthearted tone. The Labyrinth of Grisaia retells the story of the first but does so through the point of view of the girls. It also brings with it a new story thread that shows Yuuji’s past. After one of the sequel’s endings, the third part sees the girls work together to break Yuuji out of prison.
