Ubisoft Announces ‘Ghost Recon Breakpoint’
- New open world Ghost Recon game arriving in october.
- Sequel to Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
- Battle for survival against an army of drones and rogue spec-ops soldiers.
Yesterday, Ubisoft held a livestream to announce Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Breakpoint is a sequel to the popular open world title Ghost Recon: Woodlands. The game is slated for release on October 4th on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game follows Nomad, the team leader from Woodlands, as he and his team are stranded on the archipelago of Auroa. Auroa is home to Skell Technology, a company which designs and manufactures autonomous drone and A.I technology, and it has been taken over by an army of rogue spec-ops soldiers, led by the ex-ghost Cole D. Walker, played by Jon Bernthal of Walking Dead and Punisher fame.
Additions to the game include a class system, which can be changed at any time from the new Bivouac, the deployable home base camp. There is also a heavier emphasis on survival elements, with the Ghosts trapped behind enemy lines, outgunned, outnumbered, and fighting against their equals: The Wolves. The Wolves are a group of rogue spec-ops soldiers led by Cole D. Walker. What they intend to do with control of the Skell Technology drones is unknown, but it can’t be anything short of nefarious.
Ubisoft has said that the game was developed heavily based on feedback from the Woodlands community, and there are several player requested features. Some of those include more military vehicles, a more involved storyline, and more choices, which includes things like branching dialogue options.
