Ubisoft Announces ‘Ghost Recon Breakpoint’

  • New open world Ghost Recon game arriving in october.
  • Sequel to Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
  • Battle for survival against an army of drones and rogue spec-ops soldiers.

Yesterday, Ubisoft held a livestream to announce Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Breakpoint is a sequel to the popular open world title Ghost Recon: Woodlands. The game is slated for release on October 4th on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game follows Nomad, the team leader from Woodlands, as he and his team are stranded on the archipelago of Auroa. Auroa is home to Skell Technology, a company which designs and manufactures autonomous drone and A.I technology, and it has been taken over by an army of rogue spec-ops soldiers, led by the ex-ghost Cole D. Walker, played by Jon Bernthal of Walking Dead and Punisher fame.

Additions to the game include a class system, which can be changed at any time from the new Bivouac, the deployable home base camp. There is also a heavier emphasis on survival elements, with the Ghosts trapped behind enemy lines, outgunned, outnumbered, and fighting against their equals: The Wolves. The Wolves are a group of rogue spec-ops soldiers led by Cole D. Walker. What they intend to do with control of the Skell Technology drones is unknown, but it can’t be anything short of nefarious.

Ubisoft has said that the game was developed heavily based on feedback from the Woodlands community, and there are several player requested features. Some of those include more military vehicles, a more involved storyline, and more choices, which includes things like branching dialogue options.

Haha “Ghost Recon: Woodlands” makes it sound like Nomad is trapped in a Bolivian fairy tale.

  2. For Epic Games Store and Uplay, not Steam, for those that care.

I think Wildlands wasn’t bad, but I’m not gonna play this game. I love sci-fi, but what is that?

I’m assuming it’s supposed to be Ghost Recon Wildlands lmao. I’m excited, not gonna lie 😀

  5. Wow, two new Ghost Recon games inc?? Woodlands and Breakpoint? 😀 Just kidding, too bad its epic only. I hope that works out for them.

  6. I didn’t really have any interest in Wildlands, but this game honestly looks pretty awesome. The idea that terrain can mess your soldier up is pretty new for a game, and as an active service Army medic, I can honestly say I’ve treated more ankles due to rough terrain than bullet wounds.

Honestly, I’m really looking forward to this, but I’m wondering if the Wolves CE is worth it…? Wildlands and Division are great games, I’m just not sure about spending $200… Any thoughts from anyone?
