‘Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2’ a Sequel 15 Years in the Making

  • Direct sequel to the original Masquerade.
  • Play as a newly turned vampire in search of answers.
  • Choose different evolutions of your vampiric gift.
  • Coming to all platforms in 2020.

In 2004, Troika Games released Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, bringing White Wolf Publishing’s “World of Darkness” from tabletop to PC. Despite being mangled by its developers, Bloodlines went on to become a cult classic that survives even to this day with the support of its avid fanbase.

Now, 19 years after the mishandled release of the first game, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is under development by Hardsuit Labs, and will be published by Paradox Interactive. Hardsuit Labs has also partnered with Nvidia to support Ray Tracing and DLSS. So on PC, this is going to be a very pretty game.

The sequel takes place in Seattle, rather than Los Angeles. In it, you play as a recently turned vampire, the result of a forbidden “mass embrace.” Early play sees you choosing one of three vampiric powers: telekinesis, transformation into mist, or rudimentary flight. Each power enables its own way to traverse the environment and its own benefits in combat. Telekinesis can move obstacles that would otherwise block your path, or snatch weapons away from enemies. Becoming mist allows you to seep through vents and pipes, or fill the lungs of enemies to choke them. Flight opens up a lot of aerial spaces.

Later in the game, players will be able to choose a clan for further customization. Blood also affects your loadout, depending on the mood of your victim at the time you feed. Fear, anger, happiness, each emotion seeps into the blood, providing different bonuses to vampires.

Some time next year, Bloodlines 2 will release for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Pre-orders are already available on Steam, and you can follow Hardsuit Labs on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
